wussup folks i finally made up my mind n im planning to go ls/vtec n/a of course. i already have a 2000 ls block with 90k on it. which head do yall should think i should throw on for all motor?

haha u r fast homie

GSR head will yeild a little more compression.

i second fu sang on this. B16 head all the way viet.
GSR/Type R head will give you 9.73:1 CR. B16 will be less, 9.55:1 CR assuming it is a stock block, piston to deck heigh, and using OEM head gasket.

really? I thought that they Type R head and the B16 head would give it the same compression ratio seeing as how they're soooo alike. Hmm...I just say you get B16 head and pick up some PR3 pistons.Originally Posted by xbn83

Viet, listen to your daddy. GSR head all the way.

well now that i think about it homie, a b16 head gives you a lil lower compression than a gsr head on the LS and the fact that you wanna go all motor instead of boost..a gsr head will make higher compression, the more higher compression the better for all motor set up.so GSR it is..forget bout the type r.

haha thx for all the info. the great vuong has spoken. i guess gsr head it is... i need higher compression for a all motor set up anyways n im not plannin to go boost so yeh. n now its time to seach for a damn tranny i think mines is fuckin up
b16 tranny dude. best bang for the buck out there. short gears FTWOriginally Posted by xlilvi3tx
yep str8 up b16 tranny i was already plannin to get that now i gotta get all the shit together
GSR head definetly and a b16 tranny you wont go wrong
yep w lsd but too bad aint got the money now
type r head flows better
You only live once, maybe twice if you use the e-brake!
the type r head is about the same as a gsr, the only difference i really know of it that it comes already port and polished.Originally Posted by RISKYB
GSR, all the way.
wrong. The type R head is actually more like a ported and polished B16A head than a P72 (GSR) head. A type R head will yield less compression than a GSR head. The GSR has the smallest combustion chamber of all the B series heads. The reason a type R engine has higher compression is that it uses pistoms with a larger dome than the P72 pistons in the GSR block.Originally Posted by Chink5
I say if your going to do this, you should do it the right way. Get a set of higher compression pistons, and get a B16A head, get it ported and polished, or get the type R head.
Land Rover LR3 HSE
^^^ yes it does but do you really want to spend that much???
b16 head, easier to source, cheap, and lets you use super high compression pistons
type r head is way to expensive i would go with a si head or gsr if you can find one pretty cheap check the stickys in the all motor section about lsvtec that should help you out alot
Hey guys not trying to switch the subject but I'm doing Ls/Vtec TURBO(for now, will be K20a2 turbo latr) so which head would be best for that???? Should I do a B16a2 with GSR cams, GSR Head, or B18c5 head????
EBTEC
EMMINO BUILT
Allmotor K EK Hatch Coming Soon.....
Si head and Type-R head are basically the same....physically. the Si head will produce more compression i believe.
the si head has some pockets or some **** in the combustion chambers. dont quote me...it could be the other way around.
if youre building the head go Si, if youre keeping it stock get the R

BUT IMO THE GRS IS THE BEST BETWEEN IT AND THE B16.
BUT EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THE TYPE R IS THE BEST OVER ALL BUT WIT MILD PORT WORK THE GSR CAN BE JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER. GO WIT A TYPE R VALVE TRAIN, GET SOME GOOD CAMS, AND UR GOOT TO GO! THEN ALL U HAVE TO WORRY BOUT IS THE BOTTOM END, WHICH ISNT THAT BAD AS PEOPLE MAKE IT OUT TO BE.
IM IN THE PROCESS OF AND LS/VTEC BUILD MY SELF. IV GOT A GSR (P72) HEAD WIT AN B18B1A (94-01 BOTTOM END), ILL ALSO POST THIS AS WELL I DONT KNOW IF U HAVE SEEN IT OR NOT BUT ILL POST UP ANYWAY FOR A FELLOW LS/VTEC BUILDER![]()

well from what i learned if u going turbo n ls/vtec. b16 head is best because it would lower your compression for better boost. im goin n/a so gsr/type-r is the way to go for me
I say just get a fast car stock... or f' it and swap in a K i can get one for about $1100 for the motor but the labor is a different story...
It really all depends on what compression your shooting for... I put b16 pistons in my gsr, and i had to get the head shaved, and I didn't want my compression over 12:1 so I sold the gsr head and got the b16 head instead. Plus, b16 head's have better flow... so i've heard. Also, I am running the itr valve train with a port and polish, so IMO.... B16 FTMFW!!!!!!!![]()
Trend settin'
b16... obviously.
lol.
GSR head for the win. The ITR head is the same as the B16 as for compression. ITR is ported, but it is only from the valve seat to the guide. Its NOT all the way thru!! ITR has lighter valves than the 3, and has dual springs. But i would go with the gsr, i believe it would be a better choice. I had a ITR head, but i changed up to a built gsr head. So i got the higher compression and the better valvetrain. GSR!!!
oh wow, someone resurrected the dead thread lol. well im not going ls/vtec no more. im going something with more power muhahaha....
. i guess appreciate the help though... +1 for everyone?
