    Default AFR Guage

    Okay, so I was wondering how to hook up an AFR guage? I'd really like to use a digital guage and wideband o2 sensor, I guess my question is, really, what else do I need besides the guage and sensor?

    well if ur going to run a wideband, ur probably going to need an extra O2 bung welded into your exhaust, preferable free from debris and anything too hot, probably a good idea to use some kinda wire heat protective wrap too.

    pretty much just plug and play from there...just hookup a power and ground for the gauge itself

    If your gonna go with a wideband setup and want a painless setup. I recommend this http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=67 I have this in my truck and it was very easy to install. The only thing you may have a problem with is welding the bung to the down pipe. If you can't weld take it to a exhaust shop or someone who knows how to weld and your set.

    Hmmm.. I keep seeing these kits with 'wideband o2 controllers', and I didn't know if it was something I'd need or not. I don't know too much about them, but couldn't I just replace a factory o2 with the wideband, or will the ECU not read the WBo2 correctly?

    the stock ecu will not read wideband sensor.

    yep, your ecu will still need to read a factory O2 unless you disable it with a chip...but u dont want to do that.

    just take it to a muffler shop and get them to weld you another, only like 20-25 bucks.

    having it welded in isn't the problem...it was more of an 'I wonder if I could...' thanks for the info guys...I've never hooked up a wideband AFR setup before, so you've been a huge help.

    a good wideband kit has 2 signal outputs. 1 is a narrow band 0-1 volt signal (stock O2 sensor reading and then a linear 0-5 volt signal for the wideband controller to give you the actual AFR reading.


    i use PLX devices. they have great wideband controller setups with excellent gauge combinations as well.

    many people run this setup ad they run the linear 0-5 volt wire to their wideband controller/gauge as well as to their standalone EMS for data logging.

    others just run the 0-5 volt wire to their wideband controller for the AFR reading and then run the 0-1 volt wire to their ecu to interpret stock 02 readings.

    or you could have a additional bung welded on to your exhaust pipe preferebly 18 inches down stream from your head or turbo if your turbo charged and then run the wideband additionally leaving their stock o2 alone.

    Reps for you, that's exactly what I wanted to know about the controller setup. I think I'm going to pick up the Zeitronix ZT-2 setup rather than just piecing it together
