Default Disgusting Smell when the A/C is on

My friends 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee smells like an animal died in the air vents when the a/c is on. It will stink only when the a/c is on and will last for about for about five to ten minutes. What could be causing this and how do we fix it.

sounds like the evaporator has mildew building up in it. they make a spray that will sometimes clean it out but if its bad its best to just replace it

check the cabin filter... could have mildew/mold, or as stated before... a dead rat...

my brother has a 1997 and I just put one in his because of the same reason. I still have the box by my trash can, the part number is 82208300. AutoZone didn't have it, so I picked it up from the local Jeep/Dodge dealership.
