Ok, not to flame you or anything--but I think you need to research more about cars before you start posting things.

It seems like every thread that I read you jump in with something knocking the motor of what ever the thread is talking about and then you say "Rotary's are the best they're easiest and you can make a bazillion horse power with a liter of displacement!"

Anyway....I don't feel the 300zx is a super car by any means. When in comparison to the rx7 and Supra. Both cars are extremely well built and I think the thing that sets them apart the most is styling. They really took a jump towards the future in the styling department for their respected years.

I mean ford gave us this, 1993 mustang

    chevy gave us these....

then out of japan comes the styling of the rx7, supra, and even the 3000gt...all look nice for what even a new car today looks like. To think some of their designs are almost 20 years old.

is it not fair to group the S2000 with the RX8, 350Z, and EVO? Especially with the new CR trim?

Raw power (V10) Vs. Turbos to make the power (V6)

how many of you can say your car has a v10? maybe one or 2....

how many of you can say your car has a turbo v6? .... a hell of a lot more

don't get me wrong...I know the supra and sc's are on the same platform....

but there is no way that an sc300 or sc400 is the toyota flagship car. In honesty when compared against the supra.

I'm not even going to debate what a sports car is in my eyes.

But if your going for early 90's sports cars. I think you are missing the DSM's. Not as great as the others mentioned. But they belong before the fucking evo. Which I consider more of a early 2000's car.

Bro in japan the SC or "Soarer" is one of the most popular cars of the import scene

the SC and the supra are pretty much the same thing, BUT over HERE in the US the supra has a MUCH higher parts market

If you would go to japan you would see just as many soarer's if not more then you would supra, They are nicer, more classy, and believe it or not the 1jzge (non turbo) is a stronger engine then the 2jzgtte (supra motor) YES the supra motors turbo and made for higher presure, BUT the 2jzge is built better, Stronger.

iv seen many hybrids with the 2jzge block and te 2jzgtte head, this engine combo STOCK mind you, can withstand up to 12 psi comfortably with stock internals and can handle 500HP easy

the SC has a slightly wider wheel base but other then that same frame

Yes you may think supra is the higher seller of toyota... and in some case's maybe
BUT the SC was designed to be the higher end "supra" more luxury comfort.

in japan the Supra and SC are one in the same, and believe it or not, SC's sell more

I refuse to believe. I think the Japanese are too cool to drive an SC. I didn't see any in F&F3.........

Turbo lag owns 1000hp Supras. A 5L 500hp+ V10 at 9,500 RPM and the Volumetric Efficiency of a Honda would be pretty nasty. They say the new LF-A is actually going to have an exotic, exhaust note. Thats like an F430 or a Gallardo with a nasty tune. Add boost and it'll do that 1000hp on pump gas and spool quick. Thats why I'd go with the V10 over the TT I-6 any day.

Nissan will be releasing a 480hp GT-R and a 530hp Evo version before NISMO even gets their hands on it.

Honda is putting a 550hp V10 in the next NSX so Japan is officially making supercars now.
A new wave of performance is coming from the far east. Just keep an open mind.

didn't top gear do an episode on sports cars? or was it roadsters?

ok baseline for the definition of a sports car:
a car designed with weight, power, and handling all in mind.

Nothing with 4 seats can really be considered a sports car, they are more sport compacts.

Great! Another set of sports cars that 99.9999% of us cannot afford! I guess we'll have to wait until the late 2010's to even consider affording them, used and after they've been discontinued due to being extremely high in price!

Heheh yeah that's like my cars, heh. I've got 2 Fieros.

I'd say they are sports cars, hell they're MR with full independent suspension and disc brakes all the way around (decent for a 80's sports car). I've had guys bragging to me about how their Supra is fuel injected and its a '86 model, when Fieros were always fuel-injected, right from the first '84 model.

BTW they don't have power steering either. It doesn't feel like they lack power steering though. I mean, you can't turn it with 1 finger like you can with my friend's Jetta 1.8T, but I can turn it 1-handed very easily. IMO the road feedback that you get without power steering is worth it, I've never been in a car that tells you so much about what its doing when its on the road.

80's cars FTFW. I was born in '85 though so I like 90's cars just as much. To me, the 90's were an era of Japanese sports cars, like the 60's were an era of American Muscle. I don't like any car made before about...1980 though. I hate carbs and the general lack of performance associated with the 70's. About 1984-2002 was the greatest era for cars I think. 2003-present cars have just been getting heavier. Even though they have more and more HP and torque, heavier still means a sacrifice in handling/braking is made.

The Fiero's light enough up front to the point where you don't really need power steering though right? I mean, the Elise doesn't come with it either. I like Fieros.

I never realized how expensive those Japanese sports cars were...~$50,000?

My favorite had the be the 3000GT, simply because I loved how they looked. Did they ever offer this body style with the VR-4 package in the US?
