So I havnt driven the supra since the Mt run and well I was going to take it for a drive and well.. and soon as I cranked it up.. this is what I heard..

1) check your oil, if its low (like barely on the dipstick, then assume its a rod knock)
2) If you have plenty of oil, drain your oil into a CLEAN oil pan an check with a MAGNET for metal shavings.
3) pull the oil filter off, and cut it open an inspect for metal shavings.
4) Pull lower pan off, and check for metal shavings

let the car warm up, and see if the knock goes away.

i had an oil change not even 2K miles ago... at 119xxxK.. its at 121xxxK now... which is what really pisses me off..

ok, then thats fine . i was making sure you didnt go to jiffy lube or something, ive seen people go for an oil change an come out with only 1 qt in their car LOL.

Drain the oil an check it anyway. maybe its not a rod knock, maybe its something else.

does it get louder the more you rev it?

I was too afraid to rev it.. After I heard that I was just like.. wtf not something else...

rev it up, to like 4500-5000 an see if it gets louder or goes away. if it gets louder, start draining the oil an check it like i said.

if it goes away, let the car warm up an see if it gets louder.

replacement motors are pretty cheap though, so it wont be too bad.

Call me on my cell Karen. If you have triple A you can have them tow it over here and we'll listen to it. Dan says it's hard to tell if it's rod knock from the vid. He said it sounds more like tranny (but you have an automatic). He said rod knock is usually gradual and sounds more like a tapping. He also said if you didn't hear it when you shut the car off or if it wasn't a gradual progression to the noise it's making now (which is more like a rumble than a tapping) then it's unlikely that it's knocking...but it's def something. Obviously.

I tried to do another one.. although my phone is being gay and wont send it.. but when I was in neutral and I tried to rev it just a bit.. the car like wouldnt let me and it was like trying to stall out on me...

You know.. when i was at kaufman a month ago getting my tires changed.. the dude told me he thought my cat was gone because he said he heard a jingeling sound and thought it was the ceramic balls from the cat.. but its a random tech high flow cat and i bought it in sept of 05.. isnt that kinda soon?
