    I'm assuming some kinda protective coating on the windsheild that absorbes/deflects impact from rocks etc.

    ...and stars in space as well.

    If there is a covering that can protect people in the cabin from the heat of nuclear fusion in a star, i need to let NASA know and make some serious cash
