Default GSR TOP END - Quick Cummer????

I was wondering what the fuckin problem is! I have a full gsr setup with mods, and 1st threw 3rd gear, im unstopable, but 4th and 5th are fuckin weak! I think I top out at like 125! I was thinkin about gettin a fuel pressure regulator, vafc, and bigger injectors, (maybe spray), but thats only gunna help my acceleration.

What would I have to do to get better top end??? New tranny?

my best advice is to get something thats not a honda. ha ha j/k man it was a rwd drive car i would say swap in a lower geared rear end can you do that with fwd(obviously it wont be in the rear)

I mean, my friend said to get an ls tranny, but I would loose hella quickness of the line, and thats how I beat people now. I now to get some you have to give some, but I just dont want to be slower than I am now.

I guess Im just a quarter mile car... But theres gotta b something I can do!

The GS-R 3rd gear tops out at 90 and 4th at 124-126 so I know you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

BUT just for shits and giggles what suspension and tires are you running to enable you to safely go over....say, 100?

that would really make the car run out of gears at 125 unless there's a hidden 6th somewhere...

Man my GSR swap pulls pretty decent through 4th. And I know one day coming home for commerce, MY speedo (on a EK DX cluster) which only registers 120, was running all the way past the little service engine box. So 120-125 top out, man you got more than tranny problems. Are you still running a stock ECU?

Jordan i know it pulls hard in 4th, i know you have more power than my old si, i only had exhaust and intake. it would run a buck 40 or so.

Its sound like your running to much timing..With to much timing,it will pull hard in first second and third gear, and then stop pulling in 4th an 5th.....check it with a timing light

Let's start at square 1. What mods do you currently have in your GSR. Stock compression? Also - are you tuned?

ya, dont get me wrong it pulls, but i swear to god ! the fastest I've been able to get that buggy to go is 127!

And speedminded... i do know what the fuck im talkin about. Maybe your GSR did do bla-sey-blah, but Im tellin you mine tops out at 125ish, so help me with my problem or shut up....ok....great.

Nowh heres my setup (and im not lying):
    *Skunk2 intake manifold
    *Type R cams
    *Type R valve springs
    *Type R pistons
    *Type R throttle body
*Password JDM carbon fiber whale penis intake
    *Comptech stainless steel header
    *Skunk2 adjustable cma gears
    *Pr3 ecu tuned with Chrome
*stage 2 ACT clutch with an extreme pressure plate
*2 1/2 custom exhaust with hollowed cat and REAL Spoon Sports Silencer Canister

As far as suspension goes, ive got 15'' slipstreams on hankooks. Lowerd with adjustable coilovers and stock struts.

    SO WHATS TEH PROBLEM???

I heard that the b16 tranny will only make it worse.

My GS-R would be a B18c5 with a GS-R tranny...w/ ST Corsa cam gears adjusted for bottom end and stock cats with high flow resonator and nothing else behind it....you don't have to tell me about not having any top end power, i have none. At what speed does your 3rd gear top out?

As for the stock shocks, they will never have the dampening or rebound for such a high rate of speed and I know they aren't matched to the springs

    sounds like a timing issue.

check your BASE TIMING should be 16 degrees BTDC

also, are you sure VTEC is engaging

^^ That's why I asked "dyno tune" or "street tune". LOL. Night and day. Esp if u run a "base map" some guy sent u w/ a "almost like mine" setup. Put a "good" basemap on the rollers (less dynapak - ha ha) and look at the graph. You will see how "good" it really is - LOL. People seem to think that N/A blocks do not need tuning.

Ya.... thats what its prolly gunna come down to.

Looks like ima get me a tune job!

I was thinkin of getting a VAFC and using that to tune with cause frankly i can afford hondata. But if my ecu is already tuned with chrome, is it necessary for me to even get a VAFC.

And, ima try and find out the exact mph my car tops out at in each gear tonight...

    Thanks for the help everyone.

dude, if you already have chrome then you just need to pay for the tuning, no need for a vafc when chrome can do all that x2. And I do have to agree, you have no top end what so ever. We ran a couple weeks back, I'm the guy with the red gsr, you sold your wheels to my homeboi.

on another note, I can't see how you're topping out at 125 with a gsr tranny, lighten flywheel maybe? when I had a gsr tranny I was goin way up past that. With a b16 tranny I would understand topping out at 125 or so, sure it says S80 on the tranny?

i think it's a b16 tranny...i have an 8.5lb flywheel and cams adjusted for bottom end yet still can go way past that. I wish i did top out at 125 though

Somethings wrong cause in my Gsr I did 130 mph in 4th gear just about to hit the rev limiter, I don't like high speeds so I let off of it and it didn't take me no time at all, with just intake and a header, so in a hatch that should be no problem at all to get up to that speed.....

have to have some serious wind pushing you or much smaller tires to get 130 in 4th...

I was thinkin the same thing. With my LS tranny i usually hit about 120ish at 6.5k rpms to 7k rpms. On a GSR tranny i dont see it happening.

ya... last night I was racing a b16 hatch with an ls tranny, and I pulled him by like 3 cars, and I rode out 4th gear to like 118, right befor 120. As god as my witness, as soon as I shifted to 5th he pulled my ass right back.

In 5th gear, when my revs were at like 6,000, they started to fall ever so slightly. I did not go any faster that 127.

I mean, if we were running a quarter mile, then I would have already won, but now that everyone knows my gsr has NO 5th gear, they wont stop until they pass me!

Ok that sounds about right then. See thats not what you were saying in your first post. heres some advice:

    1) WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU RACING INTO 5th GEAR

    2) If you do race an go into 5th, 99% of the time in a stock HONDA motor, you will slow down because A) you dont have the aerodynamics to go 150+mph B) you dont have the power C) you dont have the GEARING

    3) GEARING is what is the determining factor, if you make MORE power, youll still run the same MAX MPH, youll just get there faster.
