When a contract is awarded by the govt, it is normally 5 years with one being guarented and 4 option years that the govt reserves the right to exercise or not base on companies performance. Fluor is not the greatest of companies but a good one to get your foot in the door.

Any GOVT IT contract you must BE ON CONTRACT to apply for a TS/SCI, youre wrong. Its a chicken beore the egg argument for our people because Jobs recquire TS/SCI, but you cant get a TS/SCI unless you are on contract. Thats why most of the time its ex military that got those jobs, or people who start off with Secret and get upgraded.
most SECRET clearance takes 3-6 months, your clearance you got in 13 days was an INTERIM. THey still do a full background check before your real clearance is granted you just never hear about it.
TS/SCI is a deeper background check, more financial records, more references, SOMETIMES a polygraph, almost always 1 person interview. My dad, my sister both have TS/SCI.
Maybe IT is different, but dont call me an idiot.

Let me SCHOOL YOU FROM THE DOD WEBSITE FAQ
Getting a job that requires a security clearance is tricky because there's a bit of a catch-22. Clearing someone is an expensive and time consuming process. Because it's expensive, not guaranteed, and usually takes anywhere from 3 months to over a year for the final result companies that need cleared workers tend to try to hire people who have already been previously cleared. Because of this it can be very difficult to break into the field of cleared work. It is possible to obtain an Interim clearance while your investigation performed which gives the sponsoring company a better chance of you getting your eventual clearance, but even that means that your sponsoring employer needs to find other work for you to do until your investigation is completed. An Interim clearance will usually come back in two weeks or less.
A Top Secret Secured Compartmentalized Information clearance is one of the highest level clearances out there. It basically means that the person holding it is cleared on the Top Secret level, and is also cleared for a specific SCI.
Clearances are only provided to people who are required to have them in order to perform government work of some kind. This is where a bit more of the catch-22 comes in. You cannot simply apply to obtain a clearance. The request must come from an employer who has classified work that requires the clearance. Your clearance is only good for that project/contract.
However once you have been investigated it becomes much easier to get a clearance for another project/contract. Hence why many companies who need to hired cleared personnel try to poach them from other companies or from the military rather than sponsoring people for new clearances.
If the company has said that you must have a clearance in order for them to extend a job offer to you, then most likely they are unwilling to sponsor you for a clearance themselves.
There are companies who will sponsor their previously uncleared employees for a clearance but they tend to be few and far between.
You can read more about clearances, the process, and how they work on the internet at the Clearance Jobs blog and other sites. You can also read a record of disputed clearance adjudications that will give you an idea of what the investigators care about.
So , pretty please, with cherries on top, FUCK OFF

Lol damn game set match. Took about 6mos for my clearance
Fluor isn't the only one I have kept in mind. Triple Canopy and KBR both have the same options for a contract medic overseas. Only problem with Triple Canopy is if you aren't prior military, they will barely take a second look at you and i have been told to steer clear of KBR.
KBR has little to no contracts in afghan right now
Any idea on education question?
I got a few guys jobs from this site already
Let me school you from someone who works for a DoD ISO office (ie: me)
You're an idiot. The very shit you highlighted was exactly what I said. You are reading too far into it.
"Clearances are only provided to people who are required to have them in order to perform government work of some kind"
A work contract has nothing to do with clearance ---> Literally. You get the clearance TO get the contract. Not vice versa. While you need a legitimate reason to request an investigation, there isn't any actual paperwork or contract work required.
Nor is it related in any way to the contractor ---> As they don't issue, provide for, or investigate the clerance.
