Well I'm pretty sure that the K series transmission when redline shifting doesn't drop down to below 6000 RPM so in a all out race the advantage wouldn't be as great as you state.
And my car does in fact way just south of 2600 lbs with me in it. It was about 2575 last time i weighed it at the track. Stock weight on coupes is close to 2450. Trust me I know area under the curve and all that mess. Last time I checked I made about 140 torque. What were your torque numbers again?
Lets take a loot at those graphs. You should remember these graphs. If you look at them Significantly more torque? Well if you look at the graph i am making about 140- torque at 6k rpm.... and at 6k you're making very similar torque with you coming to your peak at 138. So I've only got you by about 2 torque at most... And then they follow similar high revving honda torque curves out the rest of the RPM range. Oh and mind you these were both done at mainstream so this argument is legitimate and valid.
And as for what my car has ran, I have yet to run 13's but like I said it is good for low 13's because my best run was a 13.5 with a 1.99 60' and a 101.5 trap. And this was my first run on slicks. With my gf in the car... Who is by no means fat haha but is another 125+ lbs to the weight of the car at the time of doing this. My next and last pass had a 1.90 60' but I couldn't find second gear because first had run out so fast (I was on 20" slicks... too small!)
SOOOOO with some very ROUGH calculations, mind you, car weighed 2550 at the time with me in the car.... add gf and it was about 2675? I make what 194whp? and with a 2 second 60' on slicks I cut a 13.5. at 101.5.
Now anyone who knows drag racing I'm sure knows about the kind of true rule of thumb that for every tenth off of your 60' can be up to 2 tenths off your final ET. So lets say I practice my launch better and get it down to a ... modest 1.8 60'. Now that's not amazing by any means... Mike you yourself told me with practice on slicks our cars can cut 1.6's. SO with just 2 tenths that's up to .4 off ET... so lets be modest and say I only get .2 off ... that brings the car to about a 13.3... Now remove the gf lol... 100 lbs is said to be about a tenth in the quarter too, correct me if I am wrong....
So I think it is perfectly acceptable to think that your car as it stands.... even if it weighs 2150, i figured it weighed less, have you weighed it? That makes 202hp and 138trq and has very similar power curves to mine. that revs longer, has a b16 tranny as well (I think K series K ratios still give it the upper hand here... not positive on this one.) on slicks with a good 60 of 1.7 to 1.8 could very well hit high twelves on a good day. I think this is a perfectly reasonable expectation and I think that all of this data provides support for this situation.
Now I know, before anyone trys to flame me... This is basically bench racing and speculation and that there are so many more variables that come into play here and blah blah blah... I know all this... All I am saying is that from the given inforation, it's perfectly reasonable for this to be expected out of mike's car.
