So whats the 1G equivalent in Hyundai's again? Have you ever owned or driven an early 90's Hyundai and compared it to a 1G?Originally Posted by SleepingTalon

Nah, never owned one, but my first lead tech worked at Hyundai before coming to me, and we used to get parts for our race car from Hyundai. It was easier to get from them, as much of the DSM crowd didn't realize they were the same. BTW, 1G's and the Sonata shared the same platform. This look familiar?Originally Posted by Ronsam2006

So, when did they make AWD 2.0 turbo Sonatas? Sure it's a swap, but from factory, don't think so.Originally Posted by SleepingTalon
LOL, so you're gonna try to split hair b/c of the only differences being the AWD tranny, DS, TC, and IRS? You have a FWD DSM anyway, so the parts are the same. Yes, from the factory, the Sonata was equipped with with that little 2 liter that everyone loves, unequal length axles and all. There are swaps done into those cars, as they were equipped with the N/T motors, but there is NO difference in the two. Might be a tough pill for you to swallow, but DSM = Hyundai. I know what I'm talking about.Originally Posted by Ronsam2006
Why wasn't it included in the DSM venture? I mean, I'm not trying to split hair, I know where you are coming from, I know the Talon and Eclipse are the same, but I don't go around calling my car a Mitsubishi Eclipse, because that's not what it is.Originally Posted by SleepingTalon
All DSM's are the same, talon, eclipse, or laser. Hyundai's place in the US market was very new at the time, and they really only had one car on the market, the Excel. Their rep was that of an econo car, and one with quality issues at that. On the other hand, Mitsubishi was going after the sport compact crowd, and there's no way anyone would've bought into the hype if Hyundai's name was included. Things have turned full circle now though. Hyundai's really aren't bad cars for the money, and the build quality on their new cars is no better/worse than Mitsubishi's, or any domestic car for that matter.Originally Posted by Ronsam2006
Hyundai's luxury side is ok, I mean I would never buy it just because it rocks that badge. Seriously, I must be hating or something, but I can stand Hyundai or Kia. But where is the performance side of Hyundai? But how can you say Hyundai and Mitsubishi build quality is no different, so you are saying they have equal amount of R&D invested???Originally Posted by SleepingTalon
