They are the strongest axles that DSS makes along with the aluminum driveshaft. Same stuff John Shepherd used till he went with a 9" rear. Got a little burned out but this warm weather makes me want to get started on it again.

Any personal goals with this car or just best you can get?

I have a goal with it. They are personal goals. I willl be happy with 9 second pass but there is potential for an 8 second pass. It will come with seat time and cranking the boost up. Just like my first 10 second pass, it will take some time.
I have spent a ton of time with John Shepherd on this build so that it gets done right the first time.

This Talon reminds me one that I have seen on StreetFire (I think) doing 9's and 10's.
I could be wrong but either way that shit is badass.

this appears to be the same car.
wicked build. i wish you the best of luck on that 8 second pass, from the looks of things you can build a car that does it.

damn looks nice. Not a whole lot of dsm's with top mount turbo setups. Question: Why'd you go with a 2L instead of a stroker 2.3 or 2.4 since you have such a big turbo? I'm going to guess it has a lot to do with talking with Shep.

Alex Alex Alex! I thought you knew better then that my DSM brotheran.
A GT42R will not work as well on a 2.3 or 2.4 litre. Yes, you can still make good power on a stroker with the 42r, but it will not be the best setup for drag racing. To build a true drag car with that large of a turbo you need to ring the bitch out to high rpms(10,000 rpms), which you know a stroker motor can't do.
Shep actually shifts his car at 10K and crosses the line around 11K when he makes his high 7 to low 8 second passes.
Stroker motors are safely being rung out to 8500. Some people are even going to 9K with the 2.3 or 2.4, but revving that high is just asking for failure.
Obviously the nitrous helps tremendously.
Nice build man and I wish you luck in your goals. :goodjob:

Bingo. I dont plan on using nitrous but I do have a direct port system waiting if needed. I intend on shifting around 10-10,200 to keep the turbo spooled. He is right about the strokers, you cant get enough rpm to keep a 42r in boost. I went with the 70mm though to keep from having to use nitrous.

If you use that direct port shot to help that puppy down the track, you will have yourself an 8 second car. Be safe driving it. You definitely have a beast there.

The main problem is if I use the nitrous then that is considered a 2nd power adder which requires me to use a radial tire for the class I wish to race in. If I dont use it then I can use slicks. Go figure trying to get 900+whp down the track on radials.

You mean 1,000+awhp??? On that setup you should be able to achieve just over 1000 with just boost alone on VP import. You'll be running 50+ psi though, lol. God I love the sound of that.

I didnt want to start a dyno chart argument. :) We are not allowed to run VPi either so it will be on c16. NDRA Turbo Street class is what I built it for but I wont be able to run many races since they centered the series in the notheast. :(

not sure when but I will have it ready soon. I am waiting on a new clutch alignment tool for the evo. New hubs in the disc to fit the larger tranny shaft..
Dude! You need to post on GADSM also! That is a bad ass car! Reminds me alot of a 2g we have on the boards.
Since it has been a couple months. Are you planning on coming to Import Showdown? It would be awesome to see that car there.

I got totally burned out and didnt want to work on it. So it has sat in a temp controlled shop since then. I have changed several things too, like the ic setup and that has thrown me behind(but not really). I have just been lazy I guess.
