can anyone give me advice on how good the rc51 from honda is? Im looking to buy one soon. I''ve narrowed my choices down to the rc51, tl100r, zx12r, busa. I'm a big guy so I need a big bike. please give me some pro/con type advice on what ave. to take. I am looking for a freeway performer as well as doing occasional mtn. runs. thanks.

all the bikes you listed are heavier bikes......if you're a beginner neither will suit you as all of them are pigs in the hills. I'm a decent sized guy and I've rode everything from a 250 to a 1K and all of them hauled the weight around just fine, some just a bit quicker than others.

if you're experienced, ZX-12R or Busa depending on which you like the styling of better.

I'll vouch for that! Got 3 on the floor right now... one used with power commander, exhaust, etc. Pretty bad ass bikes

I hope this isn't your first bike.:headslap: No offense, but if you're dumb enough to start out on a bike this big then you shouldn't be riding since controlling yourself is obviously an issue.

Your size has nothing to do with sportbikes, it will make no difference in thier performance unless you're a very experienced rider.

If you are concerned with comfort, don't get a sportbike.

If this isn't your first bike, then I would suggest the ZX-14 or Busa. I love the V-twin sportbikes (I have 2 myself), but the RC is not friendly on the street. The TL is a great bike (One of the v-twins I own is a TL), but its not for everybody. It is very outdated in performance now also.
good luck:goodjob:

big guy doesnt not = big bike

freeway performer and mtn runs dont belong in the same sentence :lmfao:

If you want to go in a straight line and go fast get a bigger bike

If you want to hit the mtns and curvy roads get a smaller bike

I've seen a guy on a 250 out run a busa in the mtns with a passenger, pretty funny if u ask me

The rc51 and busa/zx12 are totally different types of bikes. Vtwin sportbike vs GT bike.

Ive had both an rc51 and a Busa. I didnt really care for the rc51 (which is odd since I love Vtwins, and I ride one now.) It felt big to me, and I could never get the suspension setup the way I wanted it. And it bakes your testicles in traffic.
I really liked the busa for what it was. It has very solid feeling, had awesome brakes for a heavy bike and, of course, had insane torque. It was just not good enough up in the mountains, which is where I normally ride.
Ive never had a kawi so I dont know about that. I will say that the kawi's build quality is junk from what Ive seen, athough the chassis is a cool design. I think the busa still looks better...cool after all these years IMO Its very unique.
Id vote busa.

Would you like to bet on that? :D I've got a friend that is extremely fast in the mtns or on the track - on a Busa. It really is all about the rider.

^^this is true. I used to see a pretty fast black one up at Helen all the time...and sometimes the dude would be hauling-ass riding two-up (not that I think thats proper to do, but it was still fast up there.)
Its mostly about the rider.
Still, a 'busa wouldnt be my first choice for a mountain whip...

If it was a big guy on the bike ... it was probably Ark. He is very fast, but very humble.

I'd like to see that.

I've only seen one Busa at a trackday. It was red. He got lapped by most in the Novice group within the 15 min. sessions. Thats pretty sad.

Does he ever go to JenningsGP?

His Busa is black, he goes to Jennings enough that the manager will tell you his name if you ask him who is fast on a Busa. :-)
Ark runs in the expert group, and is very quick for that group also. Last year, he rode his track bike there mostly (an R6). He is very approachable. If you see him, go say hi. I plan to try to hit a few trackdays with him again this coming up season. I'll post when we are going.

Sounds good.

Never seen the black busa there, but I think I know who you are talking about.

Thats pretty damn respectable. What kind of times is he getting with the Busa at Jennings?

I don't know what he is doing on it now. Pretty fast though.
