So IA doesn't have a videography sub-forum (yet), so I decided to make this thread. I know there's a billion 'n a half photographers on IA but how many videographers are there? Amateur, novice, pro, arts students, etc... anyone that enjoys either capturing video, editing it, or both count.

Lets start simple first... post what camcorder(s) you use, software you use, and any examples of your work you wanna share.

Also, if anyone's had a chance to mess with AVCHD editing or editing 1080i footage in general, let me know, thx. =D

I suppose I'll start:

Equipment:
- Sony DCR-HC21 MiniDV Camcorder
- Sony DSC-F707 Camera (for stills to incorporate into videos)
- soon to purchase a Sony HDR-SR1 AVCHD HDD Hi-Def 1080i Camcorder

Software:
- Windows Movie Maker (LOL)
- Adobe Photoshop CS2 (for creating my own transitions and effects)
- Adobe Premiere (very little experience, still learning)

Example:

Ive done video work off and on for 3-4 years. Just havent had the money to invest in an HD camera yet, but soon I am planning on it, because Ill eventually offer videography for weddings.

I used to do work in Premiere but I really enjoy using Vegas 6.0. Very versatile and powerful.

LOL Speaking of videos, I did this in about 5 minutes of editing.

I currently use a Samsung MiniDV.

I was a vegas video 4.0 whore back in like 03-05 but had to call it quits once my sony camcorder was confiscated by the boys in blue! Haven't made a video in awhile but I sure did love it then! I find Vegas Video to be damn easy and can hang with Premiere with the right plug ins! Premiere is awesome right out of the box though!, it's just hard to get a hang of it unlike VV!

Also I was shooting with a MiniDV and transferring via firewire connec!

I use a Canon GL2. This is not my camera, but where I work.

I do have Final Cut Pro and all the goodies to go along with it to edit.

I use a Canon XL1 and Sony Vegas for Editing software. I plan on using Final Cut Pro on a G4 or G5 but I haven't had the time to play around with it. I plan on purchasing a Panasonic AG-HVX200 in the future.

Are there any major pros and cons between (dvd and hd-storage wise) besides the amount of space stored?
I know HD stores several gigs, but hows the quality compare between the two?
I plan on getting a camcorder very soon.
Thanks :)

Ive been working in television and doing freelance video work since 2000. Ive shot numerous music videos for bands like Mastodon, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, All American Rejects, and i shoot all the concerts at Chastain park. I worked on a show for the WB as a handheld camera op. i also film weddings and various events. I am a skateboarder and the chance to shoot skating and edit it comes up quite often. Here's some skating i filmed and edited:

i use a Sony vx2000, VX2100 and VX1000. At chastain i shoot with XL1s and several GL2's.

i edit on Final Cut pro and Adobe premiere, and have cut some things for Turner and WXIA on Avid.

ive been a professional videographer for a little over a year now. I own an action sports film company, XSP films www.xsfilmco.com and a real estate videography company. I haven't done any car videos yet, I plan to though, but just a sample of some of my work I went down to a big motocross national in florida over thanksgiving. Here is the video I did from it www.xsfilmco.com/video/clips/minios.wmv

oh yea, I shoot with a panasonic dvc30 and sony hc1 for 1080i shots.

Cameras:
2 Canon ZR85s (one with a wide lens)
1 Canon ZR75

Computers:
PowerBook G4
iMac G4 (formerly)

Software:
iMovie
QuickTime Pro

I kind of retired on the videography thing for a while. Atleast until I get another camera charger... I want to use Final Cut, but don't have a computer fast enough to do so at the moment, so I'm biding my time, and trying to perfect my inner-photo geek.

How do you like the Vegas 6 software? I just bought the Sony HC3 last week and I am trying to choose from about 5 diff software companies to edit the HDV footage. And can you link me to a video of yours that has mostly the Sony HC1 footage?
