Well, after hearing about people complaining about people getting stupid at the V, but still going there (Jorge!) and others saying its their choice to.... how would you like to have your cake and eat it too?

What am i talking about?

What if i said theres a place we can have a meet, just south of atlanta (20 min) where we could gather, talk, bs, burnout, trayslide and NOT WORRY about it being illegal?

I was down at Senoia Speedway on sat night for some drifting. I was talking to the event coordinator and was telling him about the V meets. Well, he was more then welcome to invite everyone down (if there is enough intrest) to hold the meets there. The place is huge. It would be no problem to park everyone on the track itself (3/8mile oval). He said he would have no problem with reserving space for a burnout box or even some traysliding. All of this completely LEGAL. Now to help cover cost of the venue, there might be like a $5 parking charge.... i'd be more then willing to pay $5 for a well lighted, open place to chill and not worry about getting run off.

What do you guys think?

Well, no racing on the track because of the insurance and safety issues but it's a HUGE and very secluded place that people could walk around and look at cars, do burnouts, listen to music, whatever... and have no fear of being run off. As long as everyone behaves, it could be a really good thing.

I would be interested as long people don't act stupid. I will come to the first one to test it out if ya'll get it setup. Like no racing around the track type stuff cause last thing I need is for some kid who can't drive smashing into the side of my car.

It really wasn't a bad drive for us from Buckhead. T

here are some dirt places you can drive through but they are very even. And there is a paved road that goes all the way to the track. The very lowered Miata had no problems at all.

I would def. go since I live in Newnan. It would be nice to finally have a meet closer to where I live than driving an hour plus to get to some other meet. For all the northside folks complaining about how far it is, a lot of us have to travel just as long to go to meets that everyone sets up on the northside and never tries to set up anything closer to us. So if we can drive 2 hours to stay 1 hour than you all can do the same.

WASSUP ALL? I'm Gary, a track promoter and special events coordinator for Senoia Speedway / SHOWTIME SPEEDWORLD. There WILL be days throughout the year when anyone and everyone can race/drift/showoff/stunt. MIKE has a great Idea, and I told him I'd go with him on it if there was a following. It's not an empty parking lot, so bands/racers/folkslookingtochill would definitely help absorb some of the costs. If no racing is done, people can park their cars on the banked speedway. I could even get small time insurance on the track for infield burnouts and traysliding.

It would take everyone willing to clear the track and 100 people to guarantee 10 bucks each and full coverage would allow for Racing, Drifting, HEAD to HEAD grudge matches, or individual test/tune. I'm posting a trackmap, which shows trackside tailgating as an admission option. FOR the colder months, it's definitely a plus!

Give me some feedback on whether this would get a following for On-Track meets v/s off track meets with street legal heats!

Third Weekend is On. Jan 20th, and the 3rd saturday of Every month. It's not a money making racket by no means, since its expensive to operate.
I'm thinking since mike asked $5... to give it to him for $5.

I'm gonna do some figure crunching though, and maybe it'll be $5 for whoever WE COLLECTIVELY vote onto the track. The coolest cars, racers, drifters, loyal fans... and $10 for trackside parking for everybody else... including ricers.!!! If you want with the "in" crowd you better start earning your respect too! HAHAHA.

LOL@ Gary.... hey man, i was just saying to simply have EVERYONE meet up and park on the track and chill like we do at the V... $5 for EVERYONE to go in and park. This might get a buzz to just get people to come out and see the place and want to come back for specific events involving racing/drifting. But like i said, i think everyone here is likeing the idea of just using the track/infield for a gigantor meet ;)

Get the people in, then intice them to other events on later dates :D

No drifting will be on other dates, there is a good possability of having a burnout area and maybe some tray sliding... but not drifting.

There is no where in the infield to drift, only on the oval..and that requires WELL EXPIRENCED drivers. BUT, there have been talks about letting people do "grudge matches" on the oval though :D

Hail yes this is near newnan! I've been wondering why I've been seeing so many damn modded cars pass by the neighborhood lately! (live in first neighborhood on right as you get off I-85 onto Exit 51 Sharpsburg/McCollum)

The first thing I thought of was some legal street racing but man would that get out of control fast....

I'm down for a cruise to the track when it is a little warmer, especially at night.

THERE IS NO OFFICIAL DATE OR TIME. THIS IS A FEELER THREAD.

People seem interested so I bet that it will happen sometime next year, most likely spring when it warms up a bit. Sounds like it will just be a "Varsity style" meet at first and may be come something more.

To tell you the truth I'm part of the group that gathered everybody when mike came the first time..

there's been a bunch of bumps but if we've got enough people saying they want to come i'm sure charlie [the owner] will definitely listen. It is very secluded out here and we to tell you the truth if this gets started up us "locals" will stop being bored out of our minds. so if you are interested please PM me so i can get a just idea of who is willing to come. sorry it took so long for me to get back.

well the thing is we dont exactly know because we're trying to work around Marcos and Mike's schedules so we might get some drifting but if you guys just want a park and meet kind of thing that would be a lot earlier, we just have to get an estimate on who wants to go so we can set something up with Charlie

Ya know....for a thread 8 pages long and that is still getting posts after all this time.....I suggest just setting a date. 2-4 weeks out...give everyone enough time to plan on it. Dont plan and drifting or burnouts or anything...just a meet....once people have been there once and seen the place....seen the possibilities...more will come the next time. In the long run...this would need to be an open option like the V though...once a month, specific day ( if possible ). With all the hassle I hear the V is.....sounds like this would be a better option....if nothing else....it will be for the more centralized and maybe even South GA peeps.

what about the liability??? what happens if someone gets hurt?? would the track be liable?? would we all need to sign waivers??

didn't feel like reading through the whole thread... imo, great idea, bad location. and to start in jan would be like asking to fail. why would you want to start it in the middle of winter? lol

anyways.. location wise, for those of us in gwinnett, the southside is far, senoia is like BFE. to get a constant group that will always make it down there is going to be hard. maybe there is enough people in the southside to provide for enough entertainment.. who knows.. good luck to you and your efforts..

i have considered looking for a venue as well... but honestly, the best thing to do is to just get in touch with some small town's officials and set it up there. somewhere that needs help in their community with local business struggling to survive. then you approach them and tell them we could generate traffic and more business to help their locals out. then in return you ask for their permission to hold weekly or biweekly or even monthly meets in their local town center or what not.

if you get their permission, then you will not be pushed out by the popo. they will actually be welcoming you, not your stupidities, but your money. ;)

i would personally be interested in getting involved with this if there is enough interest.

GGPIS3
07-23-2007, 04:39 PM
btw, the catch is, if you get the town involved, along with the police, then you might have a chance at requesting a street be closed down for some legal street racing.

07-23-2007, 04:43 PM
here's one more idea for you guys... if people are willing to pay $5 to sit around in a parking lot of some sort... why not just contact one of the larger parking structures in downtown, midtown or buckhead and see if we can rent one or keep it open just for us on a specific night... why drive all the way to bfe if you can just do the same thing in a parking structure somewhere close by...

Because this thread was started in DECEMBER of 2006 after we went down there for an event. This thread died off for quite a few months and then was brought back by someone else who wants to try to do something there.

Mike (DropTopDrifter) is not working on this in any way. If you want to get invovled, message D Guerra who posted a few posts up but we no longer have anything to do with it.

I've been there and it would be a great secluded spot to hang out in but it is really far from us that live up north. If anything else comes of this, I agree with what was posted above... new thread needed.
