Why don't you do some research and compare the horsepower, compression ratio, and torque? If I had the sheet with me I could tell you, but Jesse has it

^^^^he's right....best deal outta the box...but if you buy an LS you can slap a GSR head on it and rape GSR's all day long...<<<<THAT'S THE BEST IMO....

gsr all day long. also, you cant just slap on a gsr head on an ls and rape a gsr. no way. LS blocks are not made to rev to 8k rpm. only if you build the bottom end to handle it, or atleast arp rod bolts.

Depends what your goals are with it...if you're planning alot of serious upgrades then start with an LS. Cheaper to buy and insurance is alot less = more money to play with.
Personally i'd pick up an older RS and start from there if you're seriously modding it...taillights, headlights, and front bumper cover would make it look like a '97-01 but you may have to deal with more basic maintainence issues...wheel bearings, bushings, etc.
I can reproduce my car plus do everything else i have ever had planned for it with a '94-95 RS for less than half what i have into it now...but i also have an '01 GS-R which if put back to stock would still have a high resale value.
It's up to you, you're budget, and what you have planned.

So if I am wanting to go turbo and spend less money for mods, then the LS would be my best option, but If i just wnat some speed with a few bolt-ons here and there, then the GSR would be rest. I do have a tight budget, and i want to go turbo, so i'm guessing the LS would be the best....right????? :???:

A turbo needs to go with a built engine, i don't care what anyone says...max for a stock b-series bottom end is going to be like 5-7psi depending on the condition of the engine or it's going to pop. Unless you're trying to break records, have the budget, and another car then why put the time and money into something if you don't know how reliable it is or what's going to happen with it. Figure out your budget, how much you're willing to spend, and how much you want to have set aside when or if something grenades and go from there. Remember you'll need fuel management, injectors, and everything else to go along with it. Plus you''ll need a LSD otherwise it will never get traction so all the power in the world is just useless.
I'd build an engine and transmission then find a car to put it in...less likely to cut corners that way ;)

Yea, thats what i ended up doing. But ill tell ya in advance. If your budget isnt enough for turbo. Id suggest buying something with a GSR swap. The DC2 teggys are a heavy chassis for all motor. I just had to learn the hard way.

I say go with a GSR. It has higher resale on top of all the other advantages. I will sell you my 97 with 80k miles, completely stock, garged all its life, perfect paint/ interior/ engine/ tranny/ clutch. new brakes and tires. Never modded or abused. Milano Red with black interior and LS mesh wheels (came that way new). $9k

Either trim is good. Out of the box id get a gsr. If I was going to mod id get an LS simply because of the weight diffrence

Get a LS, later add the vtech head. LS has more bottom end torque, therefore adding a vtech head altogether would be even more powerful low and high end. And after all that, You can still add a turbo kit, go all motor or shoot some nitrogen. b20's are also good but lack some high end in the long run. But as long as you have vtech, your good whatever way you choose. But all in all..just **** it and get a b13(91-94 nissan sentra se-R) and swap in a sr20VE(vvl) motor..get some bolt ons and a ecu/good tune. you'll be runnin 13's all motor with around 200hp just like my bro.. :D {honda/acura killer}
