hi guys

i have a 93 eclipse 1.8l SOHC and i am having a problem with the alternator belt. it keeps on squeaking when i do a cold start. Today i changed the belt with a gatorback poly V belt. STILL it squeeks on a cold start. . . any suggestions??

that has an automatic tensioner, right? if a new belt still does it, then id check the tension of the belt or the tensioner could have gone bad

nope it is manual but i fixed it today (i hope) i used my 1/2in socket driver and put it between the engine and the alt. and used it to push the alternator far doewn so that the belt would be really tight (did it by hand previously) and tightened it while holdng it and it hasnt squeeked all day even with my system POUNDING
