Yeah it doesn't look fast at all on the video, I noticed that too. The way I figured it out, is I played it frame by frame and paused it right when the camera focuses over on the tach.. You have to catch it before I press the clutch because, but its somewhere between 5500-6000 RPM, and I was in 6th gear. Im on a 28" tall tire (the vid says BFG drag radials, I'm actually running 28x10 M&H Racemasters). Do the math.... 3.13 rear gear, 6th gear is a 0.79 ratio, 28" tall tire... 5500 RPM is 185 MPH, 6000 RPM is 202 MPH. :)

Thanks :)

Boost up its completely different, but still feels slow to me though. Bigger cams, bigger turbo, and nitrous in the works right now, hopefully will fix that :)

Damn, why did I think you were on BFGs....I tried to IM you before I finished it to make sure all the specs were right, but I had already been drinkin for a couple hours and just said 'fuck it' hahahaha!

Hey Ren! :D Good to see you over here. Hows your car doing?

Depends what you mean by heat cycle...

Heat cycle as in what you do to the tires when you first purchase them? Yes.

Heat cycle as in get them hot before this pass? Didn't need to, they get enough heat in them just driving around to keep the car from spinning. Even with the boost turned all the way up, I hook in every gear, every time :)

I try and I try, but its hard to be low-key in a Supra.

and you think the car is slow.lol

Acceleration wise, yeah. I turned the boost up today with C16 and it feels "kinda fast". I need more though. Its an expensive addiction though. I'd be better off financially if I just picked up a drug habit I think... Don't think drugs would be as fun as the car though, lol.

Damn.. That really sucks :( I just saw your thread on SF.com earlier tonight after I posted that... I'd be upset over the previous owner lying as well. Hopefully it won't need a rebuild yet, but if it does at least you have an excuse to build the bottom end.

Your car can be stupid fast too! :D I'm selling my entire setup (complete turbo kit, cams, injectors, engine management stuff, etc) very soon.

Can't let nerves get to ya, that's when you slip up and miss-shift or something silly like that. Plus the car feels "same old, same old" at that level, I was running 93 octane with the boost controller off (~18 PSI).

Camera lady says thanks, I appreciate it as well :) She's been my camera-girl/co-pilot for about 3 years now, she's gotten good at it ;) I'm looking for a Supra to get her soon. She's finally been bitten by the go-fast bug after all this time of being around me and my cars. I let her drive my Supra around one afternoon and next thing I know she's hooked. :)

lol I am a ricer...I admit it, I actually enjoyed watching F&F...matter of fact I actually watched it the other day. but its kinda different now then it was back when it came out like 4-5 years ago, I actually know a lot more so I can better understand how dumb everything sounded...

nice run, was that topped out or not? shouldve seen how far you could take the dawg, i cant belive people are still runing those t78 turbos, old but classic supra setup

PSINXS

whats unbelieveable is that a t-78 even with its old technology, can be properly setup and hang/beat the newer setups with the DBB in them. Its still a wel engineered turbo even in comparison with the new things.

true that, If i had a supra i would probaly still do the t78, alot of expirence and testing around that turbo. My first ride in a single supra was a t78, and damn was i not expecting it....

Will do :) Probably will be sometime this summer.

Nah, it was still pulling pretty good actually, but I was kinda skittish about staying in it for that long on 93 octane. I was having to keep a close eye on EGTs, I shut down if they get around 840-860*C.. Long pulls can build up ton of heat in the head, which leads to detonation if the octane isn't high enough. If I even run pump gas at all, I will usually run it blended with C12 or C16 since my base boost is relatively high (18-19 PSI, sometimes 20 on the wastegate), but my distributor was sold out so I had to put straight 93 in :( Ended up draining my gas tank and filling it with C16 a few days ago. Need to make another vid I suppose.

Yeah, I like the T78 in all honesty. Its cheap, its effective, and its reliable. Only thing I don't like about it, is it doesn't move enough air for my goals so Im switching to a T6 based GT42R and hoping I'm as happy with it as I am with the Greddy setup.
