Russell (Hwy. 348) can get you too...other than that there's not much to be worried about except just keeping it between the lines...or at least the ditches ;)

I believe I can drive the in the Mtns just fine...I grew up there...learned how to drive in the mtns....but seriously I would love to do this...Just one sat or sunday coming up! Would be great......

the main road that people run when in the mountains of north GA. the favorite run is from the base of the mountain at Turner's Corner to the top of Blood Mountain. most of the uphill portions have 2 lanes up and 1 down, and the lazy/crappy drivers tend to use both so they can appear faster and piss people like me off. if you continue to follow 129 you will eventually find yourself on the famed Tail of the Dragon. while sticking around blood mountain you can run "the loop" which consists usually of 129 to hwy180 through Vogel state park, over to hwy60 in Suches, then down 60 to the rockpile at 19 and back over to 129. there's also RRR and 75N north of Helen that are great roads and if you drive hwy60 from the rockpile to morganton it's a long but extremely fun road.

this concludes your tour of the north ga mountains, please deposit 50 cents.

To be honest with you, there's nothing wrong with a mtn run with competent people you know. As for competition on mtn runs, that is just stupid as hell for girls or guys. What gives you the right to race up and down a mtn crossing the double yellows and plowing into corners trying to out do your buddy? I'm tired to seeing bikers getting hit head on by the import racers. Fucking grow up and just do some spirited runs, but racing againest each other up and down the mountain is just fucking ignorant.

No....I fucking took my bike up and down 129 well over the speed limit....but it does not sit well with me when I see two imports trying to race up the roads when it turns into two lanes and the outside car doing it's damndest to stay in his lane.

Spirited runs can be whatever you make of it, if it's 10mph or 40mph over speed limit then so be it, BUT racing to get around each other or trying to pass when it turns to two lanes and not being able to stay in your lane is completely different.

drive however fast you want, but if you try to make it into competition of some kind then it gets ugly. when it becomes a competition of sorts people drive beyond their limits and make stupid mistakes. stupid mistakes turn into afternoons of pulling bikes/cars off the edge of the mountain and ambulance rides instead of having a good fun day in the twisties. for example, if you're using two lanes heading up 129 then you're over your head and need to slow down. what's the point in straightening out the curves?
