hey guys, i just got this car on sunday. after test driving it, everything went well. The car ran great and drove real fast. after test drive, i purchased the car and on the way home, it died. I cant get it to fire and it sounds like its not gettting fuel to it. I drove the car from stockbridge to lawrenceville (in almost 3 hours of traffic) and didnt have a problem with it until i got 10 minutes away from my house. As far as i can tell, its a fuel pump. It never ran hot or lost oil pressure. it just kinda died. Yes, i did just get it, but i need something by the end of this week so i can have a DD. I would love to keep it but due to me not having the money to get it towed to my mechanics shop, it would end up just sitting at my house. I dont have any current pics except for the ones that were on the last owners thread. My asking price is $1600 OBO. I will entertain any trades as well. I have the VIN upon request.

i had the same thing happen with a 90 eagle talon i got off IA, 10 minutes of drivin and the oil filter housing sprayed oil all over and the car died.i fixed it then the timing belt snapped 2 weeks later,i will never buy or trade for a dsm ever again.im sure you feel the same way ;) yours looks a million times better and is proably alot more simple to fix that mine was.good luck

hey man, check the fuel lines on the fuel pump. I had a DSM once and the same thing happen to me. i was just driving down my GF driveway and it died. i had it towed to the shop and he told me that the Fuel lines just came off the pump. I dont know how but ya..... i just though i would throw that out there for you so you might could keep this as a DD.

It could be the ecu, my car was like that when I brought her. It would run fine then all in a sudden it would die and can't start. The capacitors(spl) on the board could be bad. Once I swapped it with my other ecu it ran well w/no problem. I have another ecu if you want to try. PM me!

dude i just sold you the thing and your trying to sell it......explain in detail what it is doing and i will tell you how to fix it, if its getting fuel and not getting spark check on the right side of the intake mani, down there there are some plugs.....one of the clips is broken i think its 16 yrs old .....just plug it back in should start right up man, if thats the prob..just check for every and anything that is unpluged down there.....all that stuff is new and was put on right

exactly what happened to the car: Came toward my house. i came through the curve off 285 onto 85 and it stalled on me. i fired it back up and just kept my foot in it no higher than 4k. traffic flowed kinda well and as i got off on the sugarloaf exit, it died through the curce and didnt refire. i got it home and it hasnt fired since. i have checked the timing, fuel pump, and pretty much anything else. it turns over just wont fire up. thats about all i know right now.

ok take the center console out, you will see the ecu straight ahead...make sure all the plugs are all the way in there i may have accidentally not plugged them in all the way when i put the new shifting linkage in...sounds kindof like what i did when i just completely forgot them, it wouldnt do anything, just turn over....also if that doesnt work double check the connections where the afc wires go to the ecu wires...its pretty easy to tell where they go, and if you cant figure that out go in the glovebox and get the manual that tha afc came with that i left in there for you

i got the shifter boot and console out. is it behind the cd player?? i didnt see it. im kinda blind sometimes.BTW the linkages look nice and were done right.

follow the shift linkage under the radio.........you will see three yellow plugs....one small one medium, one large, make sure they are all pushed all the way into the ecu, the ecu is a gold color

could be , but double check those wires coming from the afc, make sure all of them are still connected, that electrical tape may have not held it all up right when i had to remove the ecu when i put the linkage in....i have another ecu thats in good shape, its a 91+ and is able to be eprom also...all you have to do is switch one wire at the ecu and the cas sensor to use it....if you want it its yours

ok when you turn the key to the on positon does everything seem to work fine?

also check in the afc settings, make sure the sensor is still set at karman vortex, that wont let it run if its different.

double, triple, quadruple, check the plugs MAINLY the ones you cant see, they are on the right side of the intake mani below the coil pack just a few inches under the plug wires, you'll see the 2 or 3 plugs down there they wont let it run w/o them

make sure that the i/c piping and every connector is still connected, still should start, but it might not.

make sure you are or arent gettin spark, the screwdriver in the plug wire seems to work good for me wile someone is trying to start, just make sure its an insulated handle

the only thing i can think of is the ecu...but i would hate for you to get a new one when you just need to do some more troubleshooting keep me updated , agian my number is 6784325634

for all the people wanting parts, heres my suggestion: Buy the car, pull YOUR parts off, and part out the rest. if you want something small, i can ASSURE you that you will get your money back out of it. this car was well taken care of by the previous owner and its got a STRONG motor and tranny so if you want it, you get the whole car. 1200 or trade is all im going right now, maybe a little less if gone by monday.
