So I am trying to get a good idea on rebuilding a H22A4 motor that was recently hydro locked vs getting a H22A. Need to know some good reputable shops around town that people have used. Also if rebuilding myself estimated cost and machine shop to use. Thanks

I have a 97 Prelude with the H22A4 that was ticking and had the engine replaced at Nikko's with a H23A VTEC. For the H22A, I think the price was pretty high, like above $2k, just for the engine. I payed $1050 for the engine and about $1500 in installation and other misc items (radiator fan wasn't working, new engine mounts, etc.)
The guy doesn't have a website, but he has a facebook page with his contact info. Kind of a sketchy place, but they know what their doing.

I actually had a mechanic try to replace the entire head to fix the knocking noise and failed miserably. If you try to get it rebuilt, trust that the mechanic is familiar with the Prelude engine and not some guy that thinks he knows what hes doing.

If your gonna be spending $1500 to get it rebuilt, you mind as buy another engine so you can have a running car. Call nadauto 770-416-1665. They have good low mileage engines shipped from Japan. they should have a h22
