was talking to a guy at work today about draining my trans and using Honda manual fluid in it , he had said that he has always used Penzoil syncromesh in his and said it is way better than the Honda fluid , is there any truth to this? and what are the pro's and con's of it?

I thought the syncromesh was for mainly to lube those tricky worn gears but can be to thick over time and cause more wear. I always searched the same stuff myself and just ended up using Honda MTF anyways.

GM syncromesh is better, but ether help with grind, and work well for the price... Next best, and what I use is Torco MTF/RTF mix together!! ;)

Ive run it in 3 hondas for years, no problem. They make a syncromesh FM (friction modified) that is preferable if you can find it.

I use half synchromesh and half Honda MTF. Shifting like silk everytime.
