have you checked this with a thermometer ?

I use a laser(gun type ) thermal reader and read the actual engine temp at the thermostat .

Is your upper hose really hot when warmed up , or slightly cooler ?

Honestly I always like mine to run cooler , I usually by a colder thermostat to do so. Colder engines perform better and last longer .HEAT kills engines

what kind of radiator do you have? some times a dual core aftermarket radiator will make it run a little cooler then normal.
