How do you do so on a GSR motor? No machine shop wants to touch it due to scared of craking the piston. How do you guys do it?

Has anyone tried to heat them Up? I read you can heat the rod up and the wrist pin will fall out, i could careless about the rods but im trying to save the pistons.

its also kinda dangerous because if the pistons have been run (im assumung these are used) you jeopardize the integrity of the pistons by removing them. The wrist pins usually lock in place and the reason why most machine shops wont do it is because its too much of a liability. Once you remove the wrist pin it almost always cracks the piston, even a hairline fracture will cause problems later on once you reassemble it in a motor.

Almost no reputable machine shop or machinist will reuse a cast piston. Its just asking for trouble. They are $100-150 new, id just buy another set

But if you decide to do it anyway, just be warned it could fail. You can heat it up, but even that is asking for trouble. They are press fit, and designed to be used once.
