You lost a lot of detail in the shadows, and the background is very busy/bright which distracts from the subject, I would've desaturated the background down but left the truck as is to make it pop. I would also crop out some of the foreground as it's not really serving any purpose and may ps another sky in there so the current sky isn't so blown out. Also I think it would be better if there was more "image space" in front of the truck rather than the rear. It's a nice truck a a nice angle though...

this is the advice of a nub though, so it is what it is

Looks great aside from the exposure being off with the highlights. If you have photoshop cs4, the curves or levels adjustment will address this properly. From my experience, it is pure trial and error with tone mapping. (I now have a super secret program that makes it easier for me lol) Cheers for the pic and good luck with your editing!

A little loud for my tastes. What program are you using? If you'd like to get into HDR, you need to pick up Photomatix.

Honestly, this looks a lot more like high pass filtering.

Honestly, this looks a lot more like high pass filtering.i set my camara to 3 in bracketing and took three pictures and combined the three. then went to LR2 and made some adjustments. i will try it again at a later time in the afternoon and see what happens. i combined them in CS3.

its been overused/abused recently. i think thats what he's getting at. as for the shot, too much contrast IMO, a blue car shouldn't get blown out like that

Yea I see what your saying because my truck is no where near that color.

that is what i mean by it. HDR is wayyyy to abused. people treat it as a style of photography now a days rather then using it as a tool, in which it should be.
