i have a b18a1 that i am building. it has 8.5:1 srp pistons eagle rods and a balanced crankshaft. i was wondering what bearing size should i use. should i go with standered or have it loose because it is turbo. the horsepower range that am shoting for rightnow is about 310-350 wheel horsepower.

Measure, measure, measure. Or better yet, take it to a machine shop and let them check it for you and make a recommendation. We run standard on anything under around 400 wheel. Anything over that and we like to open it up a bit.

Standard. Thanks.

Bearing clearance is the least important clearance to worry about, not saying its not important, but as long as the crank measures consistent and hasn't been turned, standard.

u have to measure the crank and make sure it is standard or has been turned and get the bearings that fit ur crank- at that hp you jus need some good bearings and put that thing 2gether- imo

We use standard most of the time, but putting together an engine without first measuring would be unwise. We run our 1000hp engines with fairly tight clearances. Back in the day, a lot of old-school engine builders would "open it up" for high powered builds.
