Which would be a better platform for boost? The 4AGE Black top or Silver top? Don't know much about Toyota's but I think I remember hearing something about compression being a difference with the two.
Toyota guru's...
Which would be a better swap for an ae86.. The 4AGE or 4AGZE?
It would be a sr5 to GT-S conversion so would the GT-S harness work with any of those motors?

Well lets see; the Black tops (95+) have a higher compression; 11.1:1 to be exact. Compared to the silvers (90-95) having a 10.3-10.5:1 ratio. Another difference is the valve numbers, 90-91 only had 4 valves per cylinder, but the 91+ have 5 per making 20.

What all would I have to do to make a 95+ fit in the ae86? Would it be any different from swapping an older 4age?

If you're just looking for boost, the 4AGZE is definitely your best bet. Plenty of power and if you need more just get a pulley kit, or slap a turbo on it.

If I recall correctly the 4agze handles boost nicely but you have to run all the components ( ie; Alternator/ ps pump/ ect) specific to that engine, IIRC. I will be boosting my 4age in my corolla and don't expect mush in the way of problems.
