View Full Version : Misc The perfect paycheck or the dream job..
Kind of the dilema I'm in, I know what I'm going to do but just throwing it out there. You have the choice of a 6 figure+ salary or a job that you love that pays just enough to take care of the bills, what would you do?
I'm not at 6 figures, kinda close but the job I love pays maybe half of what I make regularly, but it is so much more rewarding and I'd give anything to do it full time but I can only afford to do it part time for now.

As long as I can make it comfortably I'd rather be happy than miserable and wealthy.

I'm more concerned with a job i'd enjoy.
After i graduate, it'll take about 7-10 years before i see $100k+ but the entire way to that number I'll be enjoying what i do. More so when i get there.

I say take the 6 figures all day long. It would be nice to do what you love, but at the end of the day, separate your job life from what you love to do.

I don't care what anyone says.. It's nice to say you would take a job that you love over a job with more money but at the end of the day it's hard to say no to a paycheck that is say double what another position might be..
if you have enough money, you can make your life and your job a lot of fun!

But you can be a slave to the high paying job, I hate mine.. I'm sitting here now plotting my escape cause I dont think I could do another full year. The alternative does eventually have the opportunity to match my pay but starting out I will take a pay cut. Either that or just drop my living standards, I'll drive a pinto to work if I look forward to getting there.

do what you love to do, if it pays the bills then fine. why get paid more and be unhappy, all you gonna do with more money is waste it anyways.

I've been there, done that. I much rather be getting by and living comfortably with a job I love versus living lavishly with a job I hate, to an extent.
In the end, money talks and bullshit walks.

The perfect paycheck or the dream job one of them would be driving all the Lamborghini's right after production to see if everything is working correctly on them... but even better probably owning your own business and hiring a guy to do your grind work as you sit in your mansion on the beach making millions a year and living it up.
In your case think of the future and how it would benefit you, your future, your family, and time spent w/ friends and family and the stuff you like to do. If the 6 salary job would open these things up more w/ experience and staying w/ that job more I say go for the 6 figures, but if it will take you away from the things you love the most regardless how long you stay on that job I say go for the other one. Just depends on whats going on.

ill take 6 figs! yes theres prolly a job out there that i would love to do and enjoy going to work everyday but at the end of the day im thinking about my life outside of work. hobbys (which is expensive!) wife, kids, vacations, having finacial freedom when its time to retire. id rather live very very comfy outside of work and hate work then to love my job but cant really do whatever i would like to when i get off.

I'd rather have my dream job over the pay check. As long as I wasn't being paid with peanuts and pocket lint.
