Well dont really know what I want at the moment. Ive shot many .22s, and I loved shooting our old Rem .270, but dont know much about pistols besides shooting a S&W .22. Im gonna mainly and probably exclusively be using the gun for shooting at the range, but of course have it for self defense, and if I end up buying a handgun ill be getting a carry permit. Im torn on what to get right now. Ive been looking at gun, but I guess Im gonna go gun shopping this weekend to see if I cant fine something I like.

If I end up getting a rifle I want something with a pretty good range, and good accuracy, but very dependable and sturdy. I love the old Remington .270 bolt action we had and it was very accurate, and kicked like a bitch, but it was a great gun. Many a deer were killed with it. Of course I remember it kicking so hard cause I was around 10, but still lol. I was looking at some of the Sks rifles as they seem to be very dependable and wellmade for pretty cheap.

If I end up buying a pistol I have no idea what I want yet, I guess Ill end up with what feels good to me. I know I dont want a revolver, and definitely dont want a billy club of a gun, just something reliable and sturdy but relatively cheap and small to medium size. Ive heard good things about kel-tec pistols, but dont really know anything about them. I looked through the paper today and found a Ruger P series 9mm stainless for $299, but dont know if I want a 9mm or not, want something a little unusual I guess.

I guess Im gonna have to look at the different guns and find something I like. Not really looking to spend over $350, but looking for advice/suggestions. Sorry about the long rant lol.

If you want a pistol, this is a very good one from what I've read and heard. Esp for the price.

i carry a cw9 everyday. Nice little pistol. And its large enough to shoot regularly but thin enough to easily conceal.

At 375 you will be hard pressed to find a nicer weapon. I paid 415 for mine with 2 holsters ($100+ worth). So you may be able to talk him down to 350-360 range.

Kahr triggers are kinda wack, but not unusable.

Hmm looking at your hand that might be a little too small...maybe I want something a little more medium sized. Im gonna be checking out a lot of guns this weekend though so Ill take a look at one of those.

IMO its more medium sized than it looks. Its bigger than say a subcompact glock but smaller than a compact glock, and carrys MUCH smaller than both of them. So to me thats what sold me.

All 4 fingers fit on the frame just fine, making it medium sized in my book :D

9mm would probably be a good choice for you. 9mm ammo is cheap enough to plink with regularly and is still an effective self-defense round. If you are considering a Ruger P95, I'd approve. I've had 7 of them and have never had a problematic one. You can find them used for $250 bucks, and brand new for around $300. The triggers are pretty mushy, but it is a soft pull that you will get use to after shooting it a while. They are a little on the big side, but still easily concealable with the right holster/positioning. The best thing is that you can find aftermarket mags, high capacity and factory capacity magazines for under $15.00 to use at the range. Kahr is a great gun too, but if you are on a very tight budget, the P95 is fine.

^ I think that was the model that I was looking at in the paper.

On another note I guess im gonna go to the Eastman gun show this weekend. Has anyone had luck and good deals at one of these shows?

i gave up on gun shows. Bunch of crooks and no good deals on any typical run of the mill weapons. at least in my experience, your mileage may vary.

edit- and by crooks i mean profit maximizing individuals :D nothing wrong with that, just always seemed adventure outdoors prices were better and i dont have to drive for ever then pay 10 bucks to look at stuff lol

^Got ya, yeah the last time I went I was maybe 12 years old, so I dont remember a whole lot about it. Im thinking of getting a military surplus russian rifle now...wondering if theyll have anything like that. There are some great deals online!

you can get a wasr 10 AK-47 for 350 bucks. Shoots like a dream, highly customizable. Cheap ammo. Can kill 30 zombies with one clip.

I have a 1911-A1 for home defense. Glock 26 for C&C and a Kel-tec .380 for backup. Can't go wrong with Glock if you are betting you life on a trigger pull.

Well ended up getting a Mosin Nagant 91/30 and I absolutely love it. Shot off 20 round yesterday and ended up with some pretty good groups at 25-40 yards, but since it was freezing ass cold and raining as well as having to shoot downhill, I didnt attempt to sight it in yet. Its a little rough of course but its quite old. I can tell this is going to be an extremely reliable gun, 20 rounds and not any problems whatsoever. Still going to get a pistol prob....or maybe another rifle next weekend. Who knows lol. I def need to buy more ammo though, I wanna shoot the other 20 rounds I bought...but then again dont want too. Luckily military surplus ammo is cheap, 20 rounds cost me 4.95, but if I bought them at a gun shop they cost from 20-30 bucks for 20 rounds. Shoots 7.62x54mmR rounds. :) makes some pretyt good holes. :)

Since you're still thinking about a pistol.....

I had a P89dc, only thing I didn't like was the trigger....seemed like you were waiting forever before it shot. But never had any problems with the gun. Haven't shot a P95, so trigger might not be the same. Ruger makes a good gun:goodjob:
