So, I finally got my car back running the other night. I go out for a drive and I see this black 99+ mustang GT with wheels, exhaust, and who knows what else. He had really short gears, so I'm guessing 3.73s or 4.10s.

I grab second gear, immediately lose traction, slowly reeling him while smoking the 315 series drag radials. I hit third about the time I get even with him, and take off. By the middle of 4th, I was easily a full greyhound bus ahead of him.

If you mean spinning because I prematurely shifted into second and it just blew them off... not really. I ran first out feathering the throttle so that wouldn't happen. Unfortunately, it still spun all through second. It was kinda nippy outside, which probably caused it, but dry.

An SS just has the SLP suspension set-up and hood, maybe a lid and loud mouth exhaust. Any Z28 with a lid and exhaust is gonna be the same car with a different badge, minus the SS hood.

I did it in my Cobra making 450+hp/tq on 315 BFG DRs, but I am with Mach and Repiks on this one. Dont think a bolt on LT1 will do it...on accident anyway.

But to answer the OP unfortunately alot of Stock Mustang owners are new to the "Sport" or are just ignorant. I know when I first bought my Bone Stock 94' GT in 2001 I thought it was the greatest car of all time. It was the first "Sports" car I'd ever owned. Of course now I know that it was slow as piss and that the greatest car ever created is the Cobalt SS AKA "God's Chariot". :D

I had a '95 gt with 3.08s. The base models came with 2.73s, and the gt and cobras came with 2.73s/3.08s... apparently it changed in '96. That's why I was confused.

My 92 GT had 2.73s and would do 40 in first, 80 in second and 130 in 3rd. Never topped out 4th but I did get to 150 and it was scary as fuck so I backed out.

My 92 GT had 2.73s and would do 40 in first, 80 in second and 130 in 3rd. Never topped out 4th but I did get to 150 and it was scary as fuck so I backed out.

I downshift to 2nd for 50 rolls. Like I said, the calibration for 3.73s was 15mph too low at 105mph. The speedometer reads 90mph while the GPS and the track say 105mph. I can pretty much idle on the interstate and keep up. The guy tuning my car said the datalogs and shit look like it's not breathing like it has anything done to the motor besides the obvious exhaust and intake, and the vacuum at idle is way too high to have a cam.

in my experience, drag radials dont hook much (if any) better than your run of the mill sticky street tire unless you intentionally put some heat in them... driving around the street will, of course, slightly raise the temp of ANY tire, but it will not put enough heat in a DR to make it hook like a DR.

Get real, I bought my DELUXE GT for 21k, you can get one for around 16 easily now as a GT premium. I spent 7 grandish on a blower with install, and guess what, with little other mods, I have a car capable of a mid 11 if I was worth a damn as a driver.


Guess what else, I dont have a 240SX that id be embarrassed to take a client, or work buddy out in as they would think I was just some boy racer kid (be honest with yourself , the average person considers you this). My car is also reliable.

Since I've had the M3 it is almost impossible to casually roll past any guy in a GT without him riding my ass and/or trying to race me for miles, even if the road is full of traffic. That is probably why I've smoked more mustangs in the M3 than anything, because they never stop messing around!

2011 model year will be a good year for Ford with the new 5.0 and the 305hp N/A V6 but then again the Z28 is supposed to come out then. :doh:


Dont pass over the new Roush 540RH, looks like a GT but with Roush badges and a 4.6L 3v making 540hp/510ft-lbs. It has already gone 11.8 @ 121 with the optional 18in rims..... Talk about a sleeper.

dont get me wrong they have built some nasty cars for sure but just from my experiances with them im not a fan. unless you are spending a rediculas amount of money with them, and letting them do ALL the work they arent the nicest people. like i said many of their cars are down right rediculas but i still dont care for em. i havent been impressed with a s197 they have built either. i have seen/shot a few of their 2v's and 4vs tho. and they were sick.

I wont go into details about my experiences but I've only heard bad things and seen amazing things. If you were building cars out of your shop and still not getting the reps about it like MPH does you'd probably make up some b.s. stories to hurt their business too.... just saying. Waste of money to go anywhere else in my opinion.

If they dont wanna run go bang their sister and press on.lol, what i meant was, every time i'm by myself in her car, someone in a stang is tryin to get me to run against them. the car is a stock civic lowered 2inches with intake and exhaust. thats it. just a DD and i keep gettin these fools tryin to run against me. after awhile, it just gets annoying to be trying to go home, and i got folks trying to race me cause cause the civic has an aftermarket exhaust.

i'm not gonna run a stock single cam against a stock v6/v8. i'm not gonna run a car that isn't mine and speakin of, i won't run on the street. last street run i had was a few years ago.

not all folks are assclowns. just the DA's that was trying to pick on a car that doesn't stand a chance against them. the car is a DD. not a dragster. i think it might of seen vtec twice since the engine was rebuilt(80,000 miles ago). it barely revs past 4k rpms, not to mech. problems, more so driver won't let it.
