so heres the deal, i bought this b16, about 2 months ago blew a head gasket, he removed the head, took it to the machine shop got it all done up blahblahblah



well the dude reused the OEM headbolts which once they are tq'd you are supposed to replace them. about 2 weeks later it started smoking again, i have some Head Studs, would it be safe to just pull the head, put a new gasket down, and use the studs, or would it have been possible that the head could have warped again?

depends if it got hot enough, just have it checked or lay a straight edge on it and see.....

general rule of thumb:
white smoke = head gasket issue
black smoke = piston ring/ valve issue
grey smoke = head gasket and piston ring
blue? = some radioactive shit is going on get the **** out of there

i am assuming that if the head was brought to a machine shop, then they would have inspected the valve and check for warping issues...so those are pretty much eliminated unless you went to like tim bob shop or something....also sometimes the smoke could just be coming from the muffler itself with shit inside it.....take the muff off and run a can of carb through it to see if it still smokes

LOL, none of you answered his question. He just wants to know if he needs to have the head re surfaced again before it goes back on. No one here can know that without seeing it.

Resurface the head, buy a new OEM honda headgskt, and new OEM head bolts. ANd you should be ok. just did mine recently, becuase my exhaust smoking white, and engine overheating. And car runs fine now.

You gotta understand, reusing old head bolt is taking a risk (bcuz they go under alot of heat, and material overtime becomes weakened.) But if you do decide to use ur old bolts, make sure you mark them (puting them back in its original order and slot), and torque them correctly.

White smoke with a bluish tint= Oil
Grey smoke=Exhaust fumes
Black smoke=Fuel

I would NEVER reuse a OEM headBOLT, Headstuds are $100 and reusable, id go with some ARPs just to be safe
