And it was a fucking blast. I'm addicted now. :goodjob:
My friend and I (goinfasterthanu) rode up there from Gainesville and made 3 passes and headed home kinda late. :( Not a good idea. I didn't bring any warm clothes so it was 7pm @ 55º (i've ridden in 36º, but it was light outside) Next time we will leave a little earlier in the AM so we don't leave so late on our way home.
I can't wait until all the photographers load all their pics. Anyone who hasn't gone...HAS TO!
Oh yea, we were chillin at the Hotel when a Semi with a trailer trucks on up the hill. LOL We waited about 30 min before going again. Skid marks everywhere from that guy. I feel bad for others coming the opposite direction.

^ It's awesome man and very highly addicting. Just be careful because it's getting cold and it takes the pavement a while to warm up. Damn you guys were over my way hell I probably saw you guys. Every day that I see bikes, it makes me miss having one so much more.

its a fun road, but be careful up there. not just your riding, but obviously you saw the tractor. that happens all the time. also gotta watch out for other squids and harley's crashing into you too. or the random miata or 350z, or vette, you get the point. and finally the cops. they are bad up there. I got a reckless driving for passing a car on a double yellow at like 15 mph and the car was pulling over to let me by. Im pretty sure I never crossed the double yellow too. but luckily I got out of it.
there are other better roads not that far away from you that are just as fun.
hit me up next time you go out, ill show you around a bit.

I found this out quickly by some DICKHEAD Z4 owner. My first pass through a Z4 wanted to make an aggressive right hander so he swerved left towards me crossing the yellow line, just to make that right a littler harder. NOT NEEDED. I try to stay in the center of the lane as much as possible. I saw one or 2 harley guys being stupid and only 1 maybe 2 sport bikes being dumb. Most were pretty calm.
dazn-PM me your # please. I'd love to go riding with you sometime. Weather is getting crappy so my next time up might be awhile. :(
go do a trackday, then play up there............I def want to do a track day soon. Prob early next year.

HAHAHA yeah. I have "bolt-in" projectors and had to modify the base of one so it weakened it a bit. The bike fell over and shocked the projector and snapped it. :( So I just put blue tape over one side and drew an eye patch. I was thinking of doing flames or a number, but an eye patch is so much more baller. :goodjob:

I need to get more comfortable with the balls of the feet on the pegs. I feel real cramped when I in that position. Maybe rearsets in the WAYYYY future when I find some laying on the ground.

^ lol ant heated gear does not help your tires on the cold screet bro.Not to mention in the mtn's trust me get some mtn time in the spring and summer before u try to blaze the winter up there..

there is a lot more grip than you think. not talking about using race slicks that need to be 180+degrees. street tires work fine even when its cold. definitely have to be a lot smoother, but the majority of street riders dont even come close to using their tires to their full potential so as long as your not going WOT coming out of a corner your fine.
the main thing to watch for is gravel and salt in the winter.

^ i take it you haven't been down yet in the winter up in the mtn's.I asure u with ant only having his bike for mabye 5 months now and this being his 1st winter to the mtn's that is like beggin to wipe out! I had great tires when i wrecked and i am telling u it hadn't rained for like 6-7 day's so it was very dry just cold and i still ate it takin my time. And i am pretty decent in the mtn's for a 4yr rider.
I no ant getting his 1st bike this yr is very fun and all but i was just warning him to take it easy in the mtn's considering he has never rode a bike in the winter yet thats all.I just don't want him to get those permanent injuries like myself.

nope, but I also have a pretty good idea of what I am doing and know when to push and when not to. it also doesnt take crashing to find out when and where the grip is. really not trying to say Im a badass or anything, just have decent mileage in the mtns in all seasons.
just because its his first winter doesnt mean he will wreck. I did the same thing, started riding in the winter. no problems. it all depends on how smart he is, but I understand you looking out. it happens all too often. just gotta be smooth with everything. ive been up there draggin knees with snow on the side of the road so just because its cold doesnt mean you cant go ride.

I remember when I got my license back this year and started riding my old bike. Shit was cold as fuck out when the sun went down. I went to the F&F 4 movie premier on here. I was leaving the parking lot, rolling at around 25 mph and twist the throttle wide open . Well the bike proceeded to break traction and kick side ways. That's always fun when your not expecting it lol. Cold tire rolling burnout FTL.

Stay_up, you should really ask questions towards DAZN, you'll realize he's not some street rider, racer wanna b who act like he knows everything. :goodjob:
I will only go up there when it's warm. I went to blood mtn and i guess they call it the loop, and it was 55º when we started, 39º on our way home. :(
Call me a pussy or a fair weather rider, but I like to be warm and cozy when riding. lol. And I believe everyone in here has WAY more seat time than me. I only have 8 months and 8K miles under me.

Lol it's all good man and all about learning. Now I will say that some riders that have been riding a long time, forget sometimes that they were once new to riding. Those are the ones that act like they are to good to ride around newer riders and know everything. I sy fuck them cause a lot of those guys can't honestly ride themselves.

I am only trying to keep him from doing what iv done that is all.Laying out of work for 2 months with injuries is never worth it.The % of ppl that go down up there every yr is getting out of hand and most of the time its because there still not use to the pattern u run or they was not paying attn! to the sand, oil, etc I personally havent been back after that 1 time the locals put oil out:no:

And if you have never been down then lucky for you but even the best riders go down up there so i think experience has alot to do with it but then again it can happen to any 1.But with ant being new and it being his 1st winter up there i figured i would warn him thats all:goodjob:

you guys gotta understand what its like for them. every weekend when they are trying to relax and enjoy the quiet mountain country life hundreds of LOUD ASS sportbikes and Hardlys come flying by all day long. It gets old. really quick. hang out at Neels gap for a couple of hours, you can hear bikes coming all the way up 129. put yourself in their shoes and you will quickly change your mind.
i agree that putting oil out is basically murder, but people will go to extremes when all else fails. that and there are a lot of uneducated people up there that just do stupid things, i dunno, pick your poison i guess.
as much as I hate to say it, the mountains isnt a racetrack. you still gotta respect everyone else. imagine people flying by your house every weekend dragging knees or hard parts.
take it however you want to, just saying....

There are mtns EVERY wurrrrr They can move to a more quiet location. Why live on one of the most popular riding roads? Me personally, I wouldn't mind it so much, but that is just me.
If people were flying by my house (at respectful hours) dragging knees or drifting, I would have a camera setup and some lawn chairs. :D

imagine the gay and lesbian parade goes by your house everyday. and occassionally they start having gay sex right in your front yard and leave all kinds of weird sex toys and anal butt plugs everywhere. now what do you think?(if your gay then this doesnt apply to you)

That wouldn't bother me honestly. But the fact that they were having sex in public would, because if I started fucking a girl in public I would go straight to jail. I can see good in your analogy and bad points at the same time. I understand they can get pissed and they might not be into cars and/or bikes like us. But it all comes down they chose to live there, because no one made them
