my brother gave me these wheels about a year ago and at one point he ran the brakes metal to metal and it seriously messed up the wheels. i have tried EVERYTHING to get this stuff off to no avail! seems to be like rust becuase i guess he never cleaned the thing!(LAZY!!!) my question is wtf can i use to get this stuff off? i like the wheel and i wanna keep them but this "rust" is an eyesore and i wanna get it back to what it should be...

the little bit i have gotten off i had to pretty much "chip" out with a flathead. but as far as cleaners go, nothing will take this off! the back side of the wheel is pretty much coated with it....

any suggestions? thanks in advance!

this is a little late but there is a cleaning material for rust. its a jelly. works great on things that build up too. I'd try it. it eats rust but keeps metal's intact. maybe something I'd try on the back side in a small area to see if it helps... you can pick it up at ace.

DONT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING!!!!!!!! I had the same problem with a set that i had. Go to your local home depot or some place like that and get some aluminum acid. USE GLOVES. this stuff will eat your skin right up. If home depot doesn't have it they should be able to tell you where to go. If you cant find any, PM me and i can get some from work. After you put this stuff on there it is going to take any impurities in the metal out so you will have to polish them again.
