man... just saw a horrible police chase on 85 going south at about 9:30 pm tonight. 2 guys on a bike were pulled over as i pass and then all of a sudden i see one of the guys flying by and about 20 police chasing him and a helicopter. he was prolly going 140 and the cop was right on his ass. headed towards the airport to get rid of the chopper i guess but i had a bad feeling he wasnt going to make it far. about 5 mins later we saw that he had wrecked and i would say he died becuz i saw him just laying there. he was actually on the other side of the median and his bike was about 100 yards ahead of him back on the right side of the hwy.

I mean, if you're afraid to do the time then

That sucks in general. I am sure like you said it was interesting to see them fly by you, but seeing a wreck where there is a body on the ground dead is very hard to get out of your head. I personally LOVE bikes but hate those who do not act responsible on them. Because those people make all of us who do get on bikes look like dumb asses.

I tried to do some Googling to find out about this "no chase" law, and it seems it varies by county. Honestly, though, I wouldn't try to run if I saw one of those Chargers on my tail, those things are beastly.

Before I got online, I just walked in from a day of riding. I never even get stopped on the bike. Even if I am speeding. Everybody on bikes do it. More than likely the idiots were doing something really stupid to get pulled over anyways.

To run, he got what was coming to him. Everybody is better off now.

No Sir, I have seen it several times out here in the boonies and once on my road. The guy slid out in a curve not even 1/8th mile from our farm, got up and ran to only be tackled by a big sumbich with a badge. I think the tackle hurt worse than the crash by the way he hit/landed him.

§treet_§peed
09-07-2009, 03:29 AM
well i have to disagree about the chargers being that fast. i speed a little on my bike try not to unless im out in the boonies with no traffic. the majority of the time as longs as your not being a retard, the cops don't bother you. they might flash the lights or throw their hand out the window. but typically they don't fuck with you because they know how dangerous riding a bike is to begin with. because most cops ride as well... hell i know a gainesville city cop that LOVES to stunt lol. he almost fucked up about a month ago and kissed a guard rail when he was doing about 80 on the back wheel.

They don't often kill the occupants of the other vehicle, true. However, it isn't worth royally fucking up someone's life, whether or not they actually kill them. I'd imagine that would be a pretty dramatic experience for some innocent person to endure aswell.

There is but there's a catch, Persuing officer has to say one of 3 things possible suspect in other crime, possible DUI, Or danger to society (over 100mph weaving through cars ect.) . Then they can continue to chase. Either way gwinnett countys chopper can be up in less than 2 minutes and you damn sure can't outrun motarola.

Not true. I am very involved with the police here with fund raisers, the boys club, etc. and they don't allow any eluding period. It may be a county to county thing but if you run they will chase and I haven't heard of but a few to actually get away (only temporarily in most cases).

Hall county cop "Most agencies do have a "do not pursue motorcycles" policy. Here in Gainesville, Georgia we won't chase motorcycles unless the driver has committed a forcible felony. Hell, we usually won't even chase cars unless they've done something that places the general public, or themselves, in immediate danger. Policies like these are quickly spreading throughout law enforcement agencies everywhere due to case law that has been coming from pursuits gone bad."

Ga started this over the summer when there were a number of pursuits ending with bad wrecks and fatalities. It is more of a risk to chase then let them run.

Depts want to avoid http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/crime/2008/02/14/hostin.high.speed.chase.cnnWhen a pursuit ensues, the life of both the officer and the public are at jeopardy...as well as each $60-80,000 patrol car and whatever other property may be involved. All that for someone facing a traffic violation, bag of weed, or whatever. It's simply not worth it.

The problem is if they didn't chase at all then nobody would ever stop.

he didnt hit an expedition.. he hit the wall and flew over to the other side of the highway and an expedition ran over him. it was a 44 year old from mcdoungh named john freeman..... and to be honest with you the fucking cops put more ppl in danger than he did and they are responsible for his death in my opinion. 20 cops chasing one bike. all 20cops going over 100 weaving in and out of traffic is much more dangerous. i saw a fuckin charger almost wreck into like 3 cars. he started to go 75 south instead of 85 and cut over 3 lanes and almost wrecked his shit. all the had to do was just let the helicopter follow him they were tyring to like catch him i swear one cop was no more than 2 car lengths away. i wouldnt be surprised if they bumped him into the wall... and all because he was speeding. its not like he was doing anything but speeding and his life deserves to be ended? no

Jeff
09-07-2009, 05:23 PM
theres times you should chase and times you should just let it go. cops just get too into the chase and dont think about others lives. even if he did run he doesnt deserve a death penalty for speeding.. all they were trying catch him for was speeding. and all they would have had to do was let the chopper follow him.

It seems like you knew him. I am sorry for your loss if he was your friend. However, if he didn't run, then the cops wouldn't have been chasing anybody, and nobody would have been in danger. HE caused it and he got what he deserved. Even though it might make me sound like an asshole, I would much rather a cop bump him into a guardrail than him hit a car and hurt innocent people. If he wasn't doing anything that bad, then he shouldn't have run. Losing your license is not a big deal compared to losing your life. Shitty situation that he had to die but the blame lies solely on him.
