So I finally got them on the car. A friend of mine and I took about 2 hrs to put them on...taking our time to eat some pizza and whatnot in there too.

Pedal effort is minimal for sure. But it's not the kinda of pedal feel like you get on crappy cars where you touch the brakes and eat a steeringwheel sandwich. It's the predictable linear kind and inspires confidence...in about 1" of pedal travel. Unfortunately I found out that the Brembo pads are much less aggressive than I thought..well, compared to the HP+ pads on the rear. Under braking from 90-0mph, I found it easy to lock the rears (also on shitty tires right now). This will probably change when I install the Poterfield RS-4 pads at all four corners. When I do, i'll update with how well they respond to a better pad setup. I'm not a huge fan of drilled rotors but the thermal capacity of this setup far exceeds anything that can be thrown at it, so the surface area lost isn't really a factor and if anything, the cross-drilling reduces some weight. I would get blanks or slotted, but Brembo doesn't have a replacement rotor for my application in anything other than drilled.
Whole car shots will come after I wash the car today.

Is this a conversion kit or a kit specifically designed for Miatas?

locking rear tires under hard braking - that sounds safe... do you have different pads up front?

WTF?

very nice

It's a kit specifically designed for the Miata. The thing about Brembo is that they have a selection of calipers that they sell, then all they do is make a hat and caliper bracket (two rather easy things to make) and bam! Gran Turismo Big Brake Kit for your car. The caliper (A-class caliper according to Brembo) is used on a far number of OE applications..some Ferrari rears, Volvo S60 front, Grand Cherokee SRT8 front among others.

As for the rear lock-up, if you read slowly, you'd see that I pointed out that i have two different pad compounds front and rear right now..with the more aggressive pads being on the rear. I have ordered new pads for all four corners that should get rid of the problem :)

if that doesn't help, you can always run a less agressive pad in the rear to compensate. I've found 'street' pads like hps work fine in the rear for track days - even if you have a very agressive pad up front, depending on what your bias is (obviously it's changed a lot due to the swept area increase up front).

Something else you might want to look into is a bias controller. I know they can be a pain, but to fine tune I can't think of a better way to do it. :)

I have a prop. valve if you need one.

Big brakes = ftw

Just out of curiosity though what made you decide to go with cross drilled versus blanks?

It's the only rotor they use with the hat for the Miata application. They don't even have a blank/slotted replacement..so it's drilled only. If I had my choice, i'd go with slotted.
