"High end" cars? Later, QD.

But I will have to agree here. I was expecting high end cars, like benz, porche, ferrari, lambo. Not evos, old BMWs, sti's and stock cadillacs.

There was a few sexy ones, though.

ill be with you on this one.

Lets see:

Nice porsche, cute brunette, rest of it is a bunch of cars A) ive seen already B) i could see at the varsity C) photos are too dark anyway D) definetly not the illest of ATL D) not worthy of its own thread IMO

I mean if you guys had fun, thats cool, no problems with that. Im just stating my opinion from an "event" kind of view. I dont see anything exciting or "OOOO" "AWWWWWWW"

Like i said before, people that were there prob had more fun than someone like me who wasnt there and is looking at pics.

brunette wasnt attractive IMO. Even if she didnt have the tat.

I'm with the others on not trying to start anything. Invite only meets are cool. Nothing wrong with enjoying yourself with people you know. But why did the exotics pull out?? (no pun intended). Did they realize it was just a group of stock/semi modded cars and nothing else? As stated above, the illest of ATL was not shown in these pics. IMO. But in your opinions, it may be the illest. That's cool. I'm glad you guys/gals had a wonderful time. And again to the PhotoG's---Pics are great!!! :goodjob:

you have to understand one thing. its not about the meet or who went to the meet for these guys.... its about how it was represented. if you are going to "claim" the illest of the ATL....... well, you better step up and produce the "illest of the atl."

i'm pretty sure thats the main reason why everyone has their panties all bunched up. honestly, when i first read the title, i was like, this is going to be damn hard to live up to... "the illest of the atl." theres alot of damn nice cars in the greater atlanta region and to even touch on 5% of them would be hard as hell to do. now ofcourse if you are connected like that then its a different story. i wasn't going to put it past sunny to come up with some ill cars, but in the end.. there were some nice cars that showed up, people had a good time, and there was def. room for improvement.

there def. wasn't the "illest" of the atl, but who knows, maybe the next one will surpass this one and the first one. you gotta give the man a little credit for putting forth the effort and following through. i, for one, know i have juggled the idea of a dope atl video and never moved on it.

i agree.. but all the extra stuff is stupid. people coming in here to pick apart the whole event, out of spite. It just seems stupid and annoys me at how people act on IA. He tod us alot of cars didnt show up, and ther was horrible traffic on the way to the V that slowed alot of things down. ill be with you on this one.

There was more than one Porsche and the black twin turbo isn't stock under the decklid (even if few Porsche short of TT's are "exotic").

The cars were more high-end builds than high end exotics with at least a couple being 700-1,000+hp. Aim high and accept somewhere in the middle.

An automotive event with 40+ cars and half a dozen photographers present isn't worthy of a thread?

The photos are dark? Ever stepped outside after the sun goes down? Most of my photos reproduced the scene exactly how any human could view it...and I don't use flashes or strobes on cars. Do you really want to see the layer of bugs on the front of cars that have been driving around all night anyways?

I read the reviews on Death Race, and a few other car movies with night scenes, and I don't seen anyone complaining about them showing lack of detail unless something was exploding in a ball of fire.

http://chud.com/articles/content_images/53/reviews/death_race/death_race_rev01.JPG

go hear what? it's the internet, i can't hear anything. i definitely can't hear a link to a web page.

i do not care if a couple suby fanboys like your lame car, it's lame, you're lame, and the fact that your posting a link to make yourself seem unlame, is fucking lame. You never replied back to my post in the V10 e30 M3 thread, pussy.

Fixed :goodjob:

And I agree with this also. Had I even known about this I would've brought my 911 out....that would've been at least one more "high-end" car, I guess.

Good pics though. I wish there were more pics of that speed yellow Porsche :(Had you known about it? You have OVER 500 posts on Import Atlanta the month leading up the event. If 9/10 of them weren't in 2 threads you might have seen what else goes on lol!

How many of those posts state your car is broke or not running right in the past month anyways...?

Unless someone does something stupid that can ruin someone else's fun time at the car meets, people should not be complaining about them or bashing on them on IA.

1. I thought there was a no bashing rule
2. I think we got the point on who wasn't impressed with the event, no need rehashing the same comments over and over
3. Seems a lot of people were butthurt they were not invited or couldn't go and wished failure on the event, now see it as a failure and feel vindicated in a childish way.
4. The OP tried to put it together and its hard to have success with ELITE cars the first try. Getting Elite cars out is not the same as getting the usual cars out. Its a lot tougher.
5. There is constructive criticism and there is being negative.

He told people that "this is for high end cars only"

It was NOT close to either of the above.

Everyone who did participate had a good time.

The good time had by the attendees is the most important thing. And it seems that no one is really trashing the cars that were there over the fact that there were a lot of cars there that are NOT high end (including the "organizer").

The other reason why it's being picked on is because this was a highly "publicized" event with quite disappointing results. A new thread every other day about it. And all that came of it was what was pictured?

Later, QD.

I think the pics are decent for the amount of time put into them and the amount of light, time, etc available to shoot them. I had an awesome time and I am pretty sure 99% if not all of the people that went did and that is ALL that matters IMO.

IA is full of a lot of whinny ass bitches. That is for sure. Maybe there wasnt EXTREME high end cars out there as planned, but this is IA. There are not extreme cars like that on this site anyways. I think it could have used a better name, but was definitely one of the best meets I have ever been to. Way better than any rice fest that is usually at the varsity. We just met there b/c it was a central, easy location. What is so wrong with that? I dont know Sunny personally to say much, but I will say he did an excellent job with putting this on alone. :goodjob:

Mike how well do you know me? How you even met me in person? When did you deal with me? Yet you claim to know how i act.Didn't he meet you when he worked at our shop? Yea, the whole Scott Siegel deal? The time you weren't happy with the results he got on your car so you called him on his cell to complain rather then calling the business number? The same time you disputed the CC charge, but never called THE SHOP to let us know you were unhappy...but instead called Scott's cell. Then told me I should get over it because Scott is!! HA Ha. Then I told you of course he is over it. You didn't cost him anything and he is the one you didn't like and he is the one you called.

Oh yeah, from what I noticed, the people who are always on here bitching at people, are the ones that rarely come out to car meets.

You are the idiot. You just joined last December - if you can look at a calendar, that is less than a year ago.

Do you think that you have anything better than his WRX? I would love to see this.

Most of your posts have to do with berating someone who actually is attempting to put on an event. What have you done for the scene, besides run your mouth? At least Vteckidd and quickdodge have supported the local scene for a long time, so while I disagree with some of their comments, I can respect them. You are a complete moron though that has no business opening your mouth.

I am one of the vehicles that couldn't make it to this event , due to a family event. However, I managed to encourage 3 of my friends to bring out there cars in place - redr1 (black 911TT), the yellow 911, and the white BMW TT. I did my part, what did you do?

But why does an event organizer or anyone for that matter have to answer to people that werent really involved in any shape or fashion regarding the event. Sure the title of the event may be a little overzealous but the damn backlash in this thread is a little ridiculous and a little over the top even for some of the folks involved. On topic: I have hosted a ton of events. I know it's really hard. Some advice if you don't mind: It might be better to do a couple of smaller events that live up to your advertising of them. Then the following will grow because people get to be a part of what they expect and maybe more. Next time they will invite their friends, then all of a sudden you had a reputation for hosting events that live up to the standards you tout. Then you can move on to the next level of "high end" cars. I would say don't call it high end again until you have a had a few events where some high end actually show up. Then again, I guess the def. of high end is relative, but the main point remains. Good luck with the next one.

Holy fucking fighting.

This meet was made from what it seemed to me to be fun, have some nice cars, and have good pics/videos of them taken together. I wasn't there, but I am not all pissy and crying for not being invited.

The pics turned out great, looks like fun, sure there aren't Lambos and stuff, but who ON IA OWNS A LAMBORGHINI?? Maybe saying it was Atlanta's illest wasn't the best, maybe there were some suppose to come and bailed, who knows. Half of you fighting about it don't even own a car as nice as the ones posted.

I see some nice cars in the pics. I know Sunny, he's a cool real friendly guy. Sunny originally wanted to have a high-end and exotic event, sure. A lot of people have "planned" on have one for years. It never works out that way. That's a given. I personally think that he was aiming a little too high; however, for a first time shoot, I think he got in a lot of cars, and if he does a lessons learned on it, he can improve his next shoot, and the one after that, etc. It is always a learning process.

No one ever needs to answer to anyone, BUT when you put your stuff out there and especially on a forum where anyone has the availability to comment on it, it is open for critique. Comes with the territory of putting yourself out there. I know this more than anyone. At least he hasn't been called an attention whore for advertising his accomplishments. I have experienced that, but no one puts the 2 and 2 together.

I agree completely. I was one of the ones he bullshitted about this event. But I only asked because I wanted to see what he'd say. It just seems he should have just told everyone the truth and that it was an invite only meet and not a high end meet when he saw that it wasn't going to be a high end meet after all. I think people are giving him shit because he had everyone thinking/getting ready to see a Cars for Coffee Midnight Cruise/Rally type deal and it looks more like a Cruise after the Varsity meet.

And what bckie said about this not being a first time shoot is on point.

Again, I'm not knocking the event itself or the fun folks had. I'm glad he thought it was successful and everyone had a good time. That's the most important thing in all of this. Later, QD.

Thank you everyone for your input and critiques on the event. I'm glad to see such an interest from the IA community.

I've noted a few comments some have made.

-The event claimed to be for high end cars- The Speed&Mischief Midnight Cruise event was titled "illest of ATL" This was misleading. In the future, Speed&Mischief will avoid this sort of dissapointment. Our goal is to put together quality events, this was a mistake.

-High Photo/Video expectations- This may fall under misleading advertisement as well. This event was not meant to be centered around the photos. While we wanted a quality video and quality shots as well, its a byproduct of the overall experience.

>We wanted to put something on, we wanted to get some cars together and have a large scale cruise/event. A couple of expensive cars were on the list and didn't make it, yet still had they joined in, we would not have had a "high end" meet in any sense. This is understood.

A dress code would have made the event that much more unique. Wouldn't it be great to see a bunch of people roll into a parking lot at midnight, hop out in tuxes and chill with some cigars? So what if they all had stock Subarus, It would be different and make an impact!

We certainly appreciate all the support for this event. Something of this scale could not have come together without Sunny laying the groundwork, all of the entrants in attendance and of course the media crew. You are all much appreciated.

If you have anything to add or any suggestions, feel free to send us an email at [email protected]

In all honestly the dress code thing was a bit a much. No, I would not like to see a bunch of people in tuxs get out of suburus and evos and the likes. It would look like some sort of prom, without the girls. The only meet I can really think of that deserves a dress code is a purely exotic meet. But overall, like I said, seeing a bunch of guys get out of their very affordable cars with tuxedos and cigars would make me burst out laughing. To me, that screams Poseur.

You're not worth answering. You don't get it.

Later, QD.
Exactly.

So I always say, no press is bad press. You have accomplished the goal of people knowing about your event at the very least. So, lessons learned and next time keep them in mind and y'all should be golden. People will be looking to see how the next one turns out because of the bad response of this one. Not necessarily a bad thing if the next one is what it claims to be from the start.

Know your target.

most guys i know, who are straight ballin out of control, wear a polo and jeans every chance they get. they dress for the occasion and when it comes to cars, unless you are going to some highly prestigious event with hundreds of exotics that is catered with the whole 10 yards, they aren't gonna dress up for it.

im not dissin sunny for trying to get everyone to dress on point, just don't see the point of it. if you want to get everyone to feel as a group, as one, maybe he should think of a theme for the event. maybe he needs to tell everyone to wear ninja outfits or cowboy boots or sombrero's lol

I'm talking to everyone when I say:

Now that's better, so much more civil.

Now, if someone doesn't agree with someone's thoughts, don't respond to them, just state your different thoughts of the pics (not of the meet, hence the PICS THREAD).

Adding you opinions on what better shots would look like, will help the media person/group on deciding what kind of shots to take and to post next time an event comes around.

Photography also consists of different types of shooting tastes. Some like wide angle, some like zoomed in shots, some like taking shots of just some parts of the car and that's just the beginning of it.

So if you want to see better photos posted on IA, you should maybe choose your favorite 3 photos, re-post them and just say "My 3 Favorite Shots".

After 11 pages of those kind of responses, the photogs will get an idea of what the people on IA like and try to improve on the shots they decide to take and post for IA.

Well, that was a mouth full.

Thanks.
Gabe

They would also have the intelligence to understand that a night cruise with public coverage is not your ordinary parking lot meet or track day.

Go to the Palm Beach Cavallino Classic, I bet you there will be plenty of people "over-dressed" in the middle of the South Florida heat with even more people wearing shorts and t-shirts. Once the sun goes down and the events become invitation only find me those same people dressed like they've spent the day cleaning out the garage.

Well glad to see that everyone is calm now. I stepped away from the thread till it cooled down since everything i said was countered.

We learned a lot from this Cruise, there were cons, and there were pros. There are places where we can improve. I am glad to see everyone who came enjoyed it and will be attending future event(s).

I apologize if it seemed like it was going to be exotics only, it wasn't. Poking at it now, going back and forth over it will not change it or add anything to it. Lots of people, I think took it personally, but forgot to realize how much effort, and hard work was put in it by everyone who was part of the team.

Just like people might think their car is special because of effort they put into it, just like that event was special for everyone who put their time and money in it. Human nature to defend.

I honestly hoped to get bit more support from Atlanta scene, but nothing starts smooth and will only make us stronger. We are open to everything, everyone has to say. Just keep it well mannered and to the point. :goodjob:

I was just responding to one of the event organizers comment, and not bashing him or the event. If I pulled into a parking lot, and saw a group of STI owners all dressed "nicely," I would not think of them any classier or their cars more high end to the average joe with a STI. And honestly, if I was going to be doing a lot of driving, in the summer, the most comfortable thing for me to be wearing is a wife beater and some shorts. It is not like you people stopped at a club or something, all you did was drive to various checkpoints. I saw there was a few high end cars that attended, and I was suppose to bring one out that night, but plans didn't go according for me, but in general, These car were not high end. So please stop preaching like you were all out in exotic cars. Either way, the meet looked fun, and I am sorry I missed it.

Just a comment to this statement, I'll make. It didn't "seem" like it. That's exactly what you told quite a few people. There is a difference between seem to be and to be. I know I didn't take it personally because I asked you if my car could be in as a joke.

They're definitely not your average everyday, easily attainable rides.

I disagree, lolol. But I guess it's subjective if you think a car is easy to get or not. You know. No harm, no foul. Later, QD.

Well of course you could drop everything you had and run out and buy whatever car your heart desired…. especially with today’s 72 month payment plans….. But doing so while at the same time being financially smart/sound isn’t a walk in the park, atleast not in my book.

Btw: The primary cars I am refering to are the z06s, 996tt, and supras I saw in the pictures.
