Well.....anyone that has been in this thread saw the 521 that Altimacharlie posted up for sale. Nobody went to get it so I decided too.

I am still speechless.

It's not a 72, it's a 70. It is, without a doubt, insanely together. There is NO rust of consequence beyond slight surface rust. When Dave and I got there we both were very suprised to see all the insane little touches on this truck. First of all, we fired it up. It started with a dry carb, with clean gas from the tank. After 4 punches on the throttle....it idled at 600 rpms. The cluth and brake cylinders were dry. So we started it in gear, pulled it on the tow dolly and strapped it down.

The lady came out and gave me the spare parts bins. There are so many rare parts on this truck that Dave and I couldn't speak. The Kangaroo windshield washer pouch...there and sealed. The front half bumpers...there, chrome great and the rubber bump stops on them. There isn't a single ding anywhere on the truck...no dents....nothing. Not even in the single layer tailgate. The window felts are good. The dash...perfect. Airhorns. Factory Steelies WITH brand new...in the plastic baby moon caps. 5 of them. All the light work, everything works....and the parts bin has 2 NOS Tokico Brake Master Cylinders and one NOS CLutch cylinder as well. So tomorrow will be putting those on.

This truck is a freaking time capsule. The interior...perfect. Door panels perfect, locks, windows, dash, headliner.....all perfect. It is literally a paint job away from perfect. The man who owned it put messages to the truck in the glove box, he made tool holders, he labelled and part numbered everything that he could. He named it...."Oriental Brute", he documented EVERYTHING!. It's incredible. The front air dam....an actual, stamped, 521 dam from JC Whitney.

But at that time, her asking price was $1000 I believe. It is truly a unique truck in really good shape. The only really rusted part was under the hood upper driver side lip on firewall. Nice little gem you've picked up there! Some sanding, painting, and carpeting (maybe floormats) and she's brand new! Might want to put up some underhood shots too.

Know everyone sees why I was practically begging everyone to buy it. I just couldn't get it after the crown I am all tapped out for cars. I just couldn't have this one go to the kidney foundation or something. I spent a lot of time on it for no other reason than the love of it. Of course now that hear about it firing right up I am jealous. I am really glad you got it. I hope you enjoy it and someday sell it to me!

Drove it around today. Went around the neighborhood up through 4th gear with no clutch. It accelerates faster than the Starlet and drops right back to the smoothest idle i've ever seen in a carbed car. If my Starlet idled half that good i'd be floored.
