EDIT +++++++

Back up for sale. Haven't had time to touch it. I sprayed a little army green near the gas tank to see if I like it, and I bought an 82 Wagon parts car that is basically complete, and it's included in the sale. The head is taken off and it's an auto, but I think all the parts are in the trunk. It has a perfect winshield, front seats, and doors...I payed $200 for it, so the price for the wagon is now $1700 and I know it's worth it. Going to be a fun car for someone...

IT NOW SITS AT FACTORY HEIGHT AND PARTS CAR HAS JANKY LOWERED JOB ON IT NOW !!!

I will trade for lots of different kinds of 4cly hondas, and maybe some other stuff... PM me. I'm home till next thursday, so throw some stuff out there...

I ultimately want to get to a 96 Midori EK hatch, preferably stock with the d series...has to have AC. Doesn't have to work, but it needs to still have AC on it...I can throw cash on top if need be. I also have a new set of Rota RB's I got for this, in the box, 15x7 35mm+ that I might be willing to sell with. Extra of course.

I bought this at the end of May from Jonathan (ash7) because I loved it, and I've been so busy, all I had time to do was drive it to my mechanic and that's it.

Id like to sell it, but I'm open to trades. CRX, EF Civic, or maybe something else...trades with working AC will move to the top of the list. I can throw a little cash in on something nice.

This car needs the Exhaust fixed, charge the AC, and get the rear to ride a little better and you'd be set. I found a complete parts car in Conyers for $200 and I'm sure you could get the rear spring off of it and any other parts you needed before taking it to a scrap yard and getting your money back.

Here's what I copied and pasted from Jon's FS ad. I'm out of town on work and it has all the pertinent info. The car's a fun little ride.

Up for sale is my 1983 wagon. It is all original, from the paint down to the carburetor. It was purchased in Pennsylvania by the original owner in 1983, who moved down here to GA and then driven to work every day up until 2001 when she sold it in order to buy a pickup. I am the third owner. the original owners manual and several other documents on this car are here as well. 1500firm

1983 Honda Civic Wagon
5spd, R143 AC update, fun car, lots of potential.
PRICE ____
$ 1500 or Trade

Engine:
233000 miles - runs beautifully, cranks up the first time and idles extremely smooth. Pulls well for its 70hp, i drive it to work often without worrying about a thing. Runs better than two thirds of the ricer boys cars here in town. 10/10. Clutch feels pretty good and besides needing to run a little leaner at high rmp's, it runs awesome.

Interior:
No cracks in the dash, two worn spots in the drivers seat. No worn spots in the carpet, headliner is a little dirty. All the options work - intermittent wipers - rear wiper/washer - R134 AC - no burned out lights in the dash 7/10

Exterior:
A few dents here and there. Less than typical rust however, there are a few spots that have been obviously fixed by the previous owner (a body shop guy) and there is a bit of primer on both rear quarter panels. Glossy paint and the undercarriage is completely rust free - i do take care of it. 6/10

On to a few pictures: (i can take more upon request)

I only have 2 free cars, and they both need money put into them, so this one just doesn't rank right now. Hopefully someone will get it, put some old school love into it, and I can buy it back in a year or so.

I've done that move before a couple times :)

This is the only way to have an "original" car anymore (going old school) --- the old school Civics aren't whored out carbon copies of each other like the new stuff --- plus it's a Wagon so it makes it EVEN hotter.

Even in rat-rod form the thumbs up you get from people in the know will remind you that this is something you keep -- not one you sell. I can't count the number of Vette, Viper and high(er) end car drivers have damn near wrecked their whips to get close enough to me on the highway in my 1st Gen Civic just to give me a thumb up or say "THAT SHIT IS BAD FUCKING ASS!!!!!" at the top of their lungs. :) The buyer WILL be happy with this in the stable. Ask me how I know.

Thanks Baby J....same reasons that I bought the thing in the first place.

The only real reason I"m selling it is that someone gave me a 75 Bricklin last week and it really got my priority.

Thanks Baby J....same reasons that I bought the thing in the first place.

Well. I will safely tell you that you will spend WAY more time building, sourcing the parts and cursing with the Bricklin that you ever will with the Honda. You will also kick yourself in the ass MUCH harder for getting rid of that Civic Wagon then you will have fun in that Bricklin. Don't get me wrong, Bricklins are cool but you will regret selling this car. Mark my words. There are cars that you will always remember to hate yourself every time you remember them.....and this is one of em.

If I hadn't just bought my Starlet, I would buy this without hesitation. This is one of the coolest cars on IA hands down. I really wish I had something to trade you for this. I'm wracking my brain trying to think of something.

RutRoe
05-30-2009, 10:10 PM
IF I can get the starlet to the airport and back safely, we might have something to discuss :)

YEah I know man...you're like me though, we change cars like we change shirts. I wanted to paint this a pistachio green color and just rock it, but I feel like I don't have the time to put into it. I still might change my mind, but I'm going to at least look at all my options.

Wow, I gotta say this is the coolest car I have seen the longest, how does is the ride quality, you mentioned the rear needs to ride a little better, can you elaborate?

RutRoe
05-30-2009, 10:27 PM
Hmm..how can I put this. Jonathan was very creative in his lowering of the rear. On the front, he used the original tophats on top of Dc integra struts. This lowered the front and gave it more travel than cutting the springs or something else.

On the back, he flipped one or two of the springs, and it certainly lowered the car, but it took away most of the travel. As it sits right now, the ride is...well...it's stiff.

Right now though, the exhaust pipe will hit the underside of the floor pan when you go over a big bump, and it hits hard enough to make me laugh out loud while I'm passing people. I bought it, took it to my mechanic's place, and haven't touched it since. I just wanted him to change the oil and check out the AC and find out what else the car needs and that's basically it.

If I keep it, I'm going to change the suspension in some manner. The car sat much higher at stock, but to be honest, the car's not that big, so it never sat way in the sky or anything. I think I'd prefer to at least get the back closer to stock and maybe figure out how to put a small block back there to get it down another inch or so over stock and the car may end up with a decent rake and ride. That's just me.

All these guys are making me not want to sell it though I can tell you that. And for once, my wife likes this one and doesn't want me to sell it.

He used my lowering advice, then, lolol. That's the way my '83 wagon is dropped out back. If he went all the way, which I think he did, he just went flip/mono on the rear suspension. Later, QD.

RutRoe
05-30-2009, 10:40 PM
Hmm. That may be what he did. I haven't been underneath the car in the day time, so I don't totally know. IF I keep it that low, I'm going to put some universal air shocks back there and try to bring it up just a touch.

It's definitely too low to get into my driveway currently

WEll, back up for sale...

It's for good this time. Will only trade for a early 50's Ford or Chevy truck. Maybe something else old..that's about it.

Thanks! I can also pass along the parts car info I found which would give you everything you'd need to make this perfect in my opinion.

I know, but I have 6 cars, and a killer motor is making it's way down for the Bricklin and I just am spread to thin with my cars right now. My wife thinks I'm nuts too, but I'd almost rather sell it to someone, have them make the car perfect and then attempt to buy it back later. It's worked for me a couple times and I'm not scared of that :) Plus if Baby J gets it, it will be way more bad ass then I could ever do it.

Let me know if you want pictures, I have 95% of the parts to make the car perfect again and would be very willing to throw them in with the deal (pass. fender, drivers door handle, pass door etc etc.).
