What's the "safest" max hp on boost can an ls block hold before you must sleeve..Just curious....:thinking:

There is no exact number but with that R/S ratio and piston size, I wouldn't push past 350. You always hear 450 etc. but they are treading on very thin ice.

But other things factor in, like if stroke has been changed, tuning, piston weights, if the block is posted and or block guarded.

Well, in that case, the sleeves are the least of your worries. Piston ring lands, or rod bolts will fail way before the sleeves.

And if by some miracle the rod bolts don't stretch, the rods will bend/break shortly after.

Thanks for the info...I was just curiuos to know how far I can turn up the boost before I decide to do the internals.

stock internals i say 100whp over stock and it stays a reliable daily driver. the further you go the less reliable it becomes. i've tuned some to 150whp over stock w/o probs, but you're rolling the dice. with rods, pistons, headstuds-the sleeves are good for 400-500whp on a good tune...i usually say 400whp to give yourself a good margin of error. i've tuned a few on stock sleeves past 500whp that held fine, but i wouldn't expect much if you go that far.
