I Broke My Tib...DOH!!

Heading down I-85 south yesterday morning on my way to work. Cruising along at traffic speed when all of a sudden a semi in front of me kicks up a huge piece of sheetmetal right at my car. I can't swerve to avoid it in traffic and end up nailing it head on. The hit is loud and the metal lodges under my front end. I'm throwing sparks from under the car at this point while trying to slow down and get off the road. I pull it over and the metal is smoking like crazy from the heat buildup. I see the metal is lodged in my front end and up under my car. I pull it out only to be met with the hissing of a slashed radiator. The damage doesn't look all too bad and is limited to my front bumper and a tore up radiator. Car's not driveable though. :doh:

I was able to get the name of the company the sign came off of. Have already spoken with them and they are getting their insurance company to take care of all the damages and my rental car. :D :goodjob:

I just blurred out the company name on the sign for the photo to not screw them since they are being so easy to deal with right now.

Then order your own parts and have your own shop do the work. Some insurance companies will do that, but not all. It's worth a shot.

It was windshield height when the truck kicked it up, but came down just in time for my bumper to hit it downwards instead of back up across the hood. That was a major "whew!" moment right there.

Got word from the insurance claims adjuster and they are ready to put the car in the shop. Hopefully with the minor amount of damage I should have it back in a week or so. I'm glad the landscape company took responsibility for this. Shows great character on their part. :goodjob:

Well I got my Tib back last night and it looks great. The amazing part is how fast and professional the body shop was. They got the parts in fast, did the work beautifully, and slapped a lifetime warranty on everything they worked on. So, I have to throw out their name in case anyone here is ever in need of bodywork....Buford Collision Center. Awesome people over there. Still can't believe that the car went in to the shop Thursday evening and was done Tuesday afternoon. :goodjob:
