I know for a lot of younger guys like myself, these are the worst time's that we've seen yet. It's personally (forced) me to re-evaluate what i actually require to get by, and tighten my budgets. I think once we're through this mess of shit it will have at least been beneficial to many from an educational perspective

Awesome post, man. And you're exactly on point with it. The younger folks that are on here that are posting up damn near every day about buying this and buying that should heed these words. It might be cool and fun right now, but (in hypothesis) you find yourself jobless and no savings (because you spent all your earnings) then all you have is a car with a shitload of mods and damn near immediate future.

I learned the hard way myself. I learned from experience. It wasn't the economy that led me to my teachings, but bad spending decisions. I was always spending money and never saving it. I didn't know how to take car of myself first, save second, and then if I could afford it, play. Then I lost my job and fell right onto the street. Lived right on Buford Hwy for a year and Peachtree St for another year. Literally. Alleyways and parks. Two and half years on the streets of Atlanta was a huge eyeopener for me.

Times like these, it would be common sense to see the automotive hobby shops to see a huge decline in business. Especially for the average Joe. I heard a kid over a week ago talking about how he had heard talks about his job may be getting cut. Three days later he was showing off a header that he had gotten for his car? You do the math.

Just hold on to your money for brighter days, folks.

This has been a public service announcement from the offices of the QD & Other God-like Men Association.

Later, QD.

It's not the thing i want that i'm trying to make sure i can afford in the near future but the things my childern will need. I've got two under two and they need more things to get them by than i want to make me happy. for those of you with kids hopefully they come first in these times, i'm already trying to come to terms with the fact that this economic crisi may get a whole lot worse and it's almost impossible to prepare for worse times when you are struggling with making ends meet now.

The funniest thing I've heard on the radio recently was an ad promoting a "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" convention from the best selling book saying "Saving money will never make you rich". Wow, so spending it will? lol

Saving money will get you by, but it won't make you rich is the point.

Tell me more about this Association . . .

a lot of rich people bargain shop and it helps them save $. i know a lot of folks with money but they somehow pay nest to nothing for nice things, and they pinch a lot of pennies everywhere.

Saving money on its own won't make you any richer. You will still have the same amount of money. You have to invest the money to become richer. It takes risk for money to grow into wealth.

Saving money will make you more rich. That's how my grandparents got their wealth. They paid for what they had to pay for and squirreled away the rest. You put X amount of dollars in your savings account each week without touching it............et voila. You're richer than you were before. The only luxuries they took on was a house on the coastline St. Simon's Island and a pair of Cessna airplanes. They paid for their homes with cash outright and same with cars, thus saving the interest costs. The house I'm in now has been paid for since 1980. I mainly work now for my utilities as I also have no car notes. Indirectly, the least amount of money you pay out, the more rich you get. Later, QD.

It sucks that they make the populace think they have to gamble their savings in order to become "rich". True, it's rather impossible to become a millionaire off of pure picking up pennies and saving pocket change. But limiting what you spend and in essence living as if you were in poverty could very well deliver you thousands-tens of thousands a year. My mom continuously got promotions while she worked with GM and AcDelco. Sales associate, SE Regional Sales team, Regional Sales Director, etc etc and we stayed in the same old shanky 2bed 1 bath house the entire time. Paycheck rose by $5k-15k with each promo (+bonuses) and we never changed our living habits or tried to continue with the Jones'.

Stacks on deck, Patron on ice, we can pop bottles all night and baby you can have whatever you like.........YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Seriously, the first thing people need to understand is that you don't get "rich/wealthy/financially independant" by spending, unless the spending is in the form of an investment.

I am stacking a portfolio while I plan a buisness idea that I hope will make me rich one day, or at least well off.

QD is right though, saving can make you "rich", but it still depends on lots of factors.

Saving does help. SNL does a great job on how to use and not use money. (tongue and cheek)

This would totally help the economy today. In fact, I'd wager that it'll get us out of our recession lol.
