2009 EF Squad Spring Meet Planning Thread

Yep, its that time again!

Its time to plan a spring 2009 meet!!! Its time for old faces to unite and new faces to join up. So every come up with a good weekend to have this and come up with some activities.

My ideas

-Mountain run (cuz everyone is going to want one)
-planning it during an autox weekend so we can give that a shot
-drag racing
-BBQ (maybe at rev's house since we were talking about that)
-gokarting (so I can kick Alans butt)
-meet at the varsity meet
-go out to eat
-goto a park and play some sports (fb, bb, tag, or whatever)and BBQ
-scavenger hunt
-goto a hawks or braves game

Come up with some ideas people! So we have exactly until next friday to come up with a place, date, and time.

(Oh yeah, if you not interested in hanging out with the ef squad don't posting in this thread, okay thanks)

Okay, i've got 2 idea's, with dates...

Option 1:

Saturday March 20th: Generic meet. Meet at the varsity around noon, go grab sum lunch or do a bbq @ a nearby park. Then the doors are open, scavenger hunt, dyno day, w/e.

Sunday March 21st: Mountain Run day. We meet at the Varsity, and the head to dahlonega, and most likely grab sum food when we're done.


Option 2:

Saturday April 18th: Generic meet. Meet at the varsity, grab lunch/bbq, dyno day, scavenger hunt, w/e.

Sunday April 19th: Auto-x solo even @ turner field. need i say anymore? :D






Those are the only dates i can for see me being able to make it to a meet, it costs me about $30 or so in gas to get home and back, so i can't just come back whenever i want to. Sadly, there are no braves games or hawks home games during either of those weekend :cry:

friday night practice, saturday game then sunday practice again.

Plus also end of march is no good for me for some strange reason I thought it would be nice to buy the wife a plane ticket on her 40th birthday to go see her folks in canada. I'm still trying to figure out how much Guinness I drunk that night to come up with that idea (so far 16 pints has been my tops before I get to buzzing).

Me at home all weekend long with two small kids what the hell was I thinking.

i like both option's! But if i had to choose, i would say option #2 since i will be @ the autoX event anyway.:D plus i wouldn't mind putting the hatch on the dyno.

I'll already be at the autocross, so of course, i'm down for that. BBQ sound good too (I'll make burgers). I'de probably show up for a drag or dyno event, but I wouldn't participate, maybe a run or two down the strip, but dyno's are too expensive for someone like me.

Ive been in the mtns with some heavily modded suspension cars. Rode in on a few mtn runs, just not my thing. lol I just don't have tires I'd trust up there and since they don't make wagon specific suspension and I'm using regular EF parts I don't want that to cause any issues in the mtns.

I used to give everyone months notices on the meets, then the day before everyone has "something come up". Shit kinda embarrassing telling Mainstream to expect 25 cars to come dyno, then only 12 cars come, and only 5 dyno. Shit like that pissed me off. So I said fuck planning meets. I give suggestions, I'll make the planning thread, and I'll come, but I wont bend over backwards just so everyone can back out at the last minute.


Plus, everyone used to bitch about location. We had people come form SC, Macon, and Columbus for meets, but some people used to bitch about driving from outside to inside the perimeter. I personally think that would be the best bet too. Just a get together and do something simple. The less extravagant the better chance of more people showing up. If we do an auto-x then the guys who dont run can just make fun of those who are about how bad of a driver they are....

Yup, it's a good time, people should give it a shot, atleast signup as novice, you'd be amazed what you can learn about your car and how you drive from having someone who is experienced ride with you. And not everone cares how well you run, there are very few people there who are actually hard core competitive. Most of the people their are their to have a little fun with their car legally, and hang out with other car nerds.

But anyways, doesn't matter what we do, (ima be at the auto-x not matter what :D ) just as long as we do something. A day of hanging out and a day of driving (auto-x, mountains, etc.) sounds awesome as always. That way people have a choice.
