joe flacco has become the first rookie QB in history to win two playoff games as they downed the titans today, pretty impressive for a rookie QB. and goodness how about the cardinals! first they whooped the falcons ass and now they are just beating down the panthers.

first rookie QB to win two playoff games? Pretty sure Rothlisberger actually won the superbowl... so think it goes without saying he won 2 playoff games as well. And truth be told, I was actually hoping we would get Flacco in the draft after seeing him at the skills competition, dudes got a cannon. Don't think we could of gone wrong with either QB. But ya, I think the thing that propelled that team to there current state is there insane defense. passing defense mostly... you'd think Ray Lewis would start losing a step, but guess not.
As for the cardinals... I told the panthers fans at work who were giving me a hard time about the Falcons loss "If the Cardinals play like that did against us, yall might be going home too" And it happened lmao. They got beat down worse than we did... If I was a Panthers fan I'd be calling for Delhomme's head... 6 turnovers? Are ya serious?

Nope. Roethlisberger won only one game in his rookie year. It was his second year that he won the three playoff games and Super Bowl. He was drafted in 2004 and won ROTY and the following year accomplished the other.
And good post, VIP. I was fully expecting to enter the thread and see a Ryan bashing post over the ROTY. Good to see a nice post complimenting what's going on now and not what happened before.
Flacco is doing a helluva job in there. I think this SB just might be a good one. Later, QD.

well thats what the commentator said about flacco, thanks QD for confirming. it would be something if he went all the way to the superbowl. I was extremely surprised at how arizona beat down carolina. the panthers need to bench jake and give another QB a chance.

Later, QD.yeah flacco is doing a great job, but the rookie of the year was ryans award simply because of the situation ryan was drafted into. he was called, and boy did he deliver. Im going to be honest, it took me a while to become convinced that ryan is a legitimate replacement for you know who (lol). im ready to see what ryan can do next season.

I am too. When he and Turner and the rest of the Falcons rolled all over the (lolol) Lions, everyone hailed Ryan as being the sit. Awesome QB and going to be THE man. I can show you the post where I wasn't falling into that movement. I said from the beginning that while he had a good game, we need to see the rest of the season and see how he fairs starting into the next. So far he has convinced me but the big test will be, like you said, to see how he does next year...to see if this wasn't a fluke. Later, QD.

Wow... I must of passed out for half that year lol, I could of sworn that was his rookie season, good call.

I think Ryan won ROTY because Flacco doesn't have as much pressure on him with that Ravens defense. He just needs to be careful with the ball. Don't get me wrong, I think he would have deserved ROTY. He's made some great plays. He just doesn't seem like the type of QB that runs a faster paced and riskier offense like the Falcons do.

now i havent watched the ravens this year,so i cant really say how he did play for play, but one thing the ryan did great was the hurry up offense.

I loved that. And his "trick" plays. On several occasions, doing a fake pitch out, he would actually let go of the ball and catch it back and roll the other way. Worked every time. Later, QD.

i have played organized football before, and every offense has intentions on being fast paced, ryan had a edge over flacco simply because 1. ryans success received high media attention due to the vick/petrino mess 2. he had a unique situation he was drafted into.

There's a difference between fast paced and no huddle though. Alot of veteran QB's cant even pull of an efficient no huddle offense, and the ones that can are generally considered some of the best. but ya, not gonna get into the whole flacco/ryan thing tho, they are both great QB's.. I honestly couldn't believe he didn't get any votes for ROTY, but ya... I think the correct player got it, despite what whiney ass Chris Johnson from the Titans says.

Flacco vs Ryan in the super bowl would have been an awsome game. I didnt want the Panthers to loose but sence they did im glad the Cardinals beat them worse then they did the Falcons lol

I played football too, and every offense is different. With the Ravens it is a lot more about taking care of the ball, they're a predominately defensive team. Flacco isn't pushed to go score a lot of points. imo there is a lot more pressure on a QB when an offense like Atlanta's is run. Especially considering the no huddle offense, and the fact that our defense definitely is not as good all adds up to a lot more pressure on the QB to make plays.
