I'm looking for YS1 cable trannys (must actually be a YS1 - not an A1, S1, Y1 or J1) and any 94+ hydro trannys. I'm looking to pay between $50 and $100 tops (for $100, it would need to be a complete short geared tranny). Grinding synchros and/or bad bearings are fine. Let me know what you've got. :goodjob:

Still haven't had anyone want to sell me the right transmissions for the right price. $100 torn up LS trannys and more for completely busted B16's are the only kinds of offers other than several people coming up with 90-91 trannys and calling them YS1's (even bought one before I figured out how to tell them apart without the label on the case... at least it had a genuine Quaife LSD in it).

UPDATED Here is exactly what I want:

94-01 LS = $50 (must have a good 5th gear)
Short geared 92-93 YS1 or any 94-01 short geared = $100 (less if it is missing anything or anything is broken)
All small spline 90-91 S1, J1, Y1, A1 = DO NOT WANT

I've got a 95 GSR that won't engage reverse. Good for parts or rebuild. LMK $125. Opened it up and i can manually assist reverse to engage. Not sure what it needs, so don't ask. Also it has been sealed back up for immediate shipping to it's new owner. All other gears work but may need rebuild/refreshing.....

Hmm... a little on the high side $wise, but some GSR gears would be nice. Where are you located?

What would I do with an auto tranny? I've got $400 worth of parts to rebuild a transmission and a couple of the wrong transmissions already.

OP, do you repair transmissions? I have a cable YS1 that won't engage 3rd. Reverse is noisy, too.

Are you asking if I want the transmission or if I can repair it for you?

Hey, that was me asking if you can repair it. (Rev had been on my comp.) Or if I can source a replacement, would you be interested in it?

Q: how can you tell short from long geared?

Hey, that was me asking if you can repair it. (Rev had been on my comp.) Or if I can source a replacement, would you be interested in it?

If someone found me some transmissions, I could probably do one for them along with mine. A full rebuild kit is almost $300 though (bearings, seals, and synchros). I mean, I just finished buying the rest of the tools needed to pull the gears and bearings on one and have the manuals and a mechanics degree, but I'm not working at a shop or anything.

I do have a long geared YS1 that went into all gears fine that I was going to use the case from and possibly the 5th gear from if I didn't find a 94+ 5th. I might could swap with you + some cash on your part.

I'd be interested in the YS1 if you're selling, but I'd have to know which gearing it was.

Q: how can you tell short from long geared?

If you have it in the car, it's pretty obvious due to the RPM's (about a 1000RPM difference between them). I've been told that if it is not in the car, you can turn the input shaft and count how many times the output turns, but I've always been confused as to how that worked. The most exact way is to open it up and count the teeth on the gears and calculate the gear ratios.

Here's most of the gear ratios:
