Whats yours? I see a lot of people here post up that they plan to be wealthy, have their own business, etc blah blah. So how do you plan on getting to where you want to be even if that isn't wealth?

I plan to take your average run of the mill pants and blue jeans.... run them over with a car a few times, drag them across the street until the threads are freyed and stuff... then sell them to frat boys and people who think they're cool.

Oh wait, theres already a ton of places in the mall that do that.

i dont want to be rich! i dont even want to own a car! i want my company to own that car and my wifes car! i want my company to pay the gas and the insurance and for the tires and the oil! you see, it’s not what the company pays you, it’s what the company gives you. i want the company pays for our health insurance and my Realty Company pays for my vacation home. You see, i don’t own it, i lease it. I don’t have to make much money; my needs are meet and my nest egg is in this business.”

I would happily give up an extra 3% to know that my company was making more than $250,000 after expenses. I like how Joe "the plumber" says that the extra 3% is the reason he can't buy this business, because it will keep him from paying his employees and paying for healthcare. It wasn't like he was planning on paying all of his taxes anyway, the guy neglected to pay all of his taxes and get a license anyway, he'll probably forget to vote at that rate.

I'll make too little money until I get so frustrated that I write a book and live reasonably for the rest of my life. I don't think I'm the greatest writer or the greatest worker, but I'm decent at both and think that I will overcome the crap wage that I'm currently at. I just want to be average and enjoy my life at this point, no rich dreams about it.
Sorry for the political thread jack.

Investing in the stock market. I am already off to a pretty good start, by getting into bear Stearns cheap, then getting out before they sold out, then with the FM's when they were low and sold off before they tanked again. This week has sucked hardcore though.

developing more parts where there is no market. Id like to have my own website by Jan.

Hopefully next year will see the launch of my own product line along with expanding my wholesale program.

I want to expand into other businesses like emissions, car wash, general maint shop.

Id also like to develop items not for the car market

not to sound arrogant but ive been right about most of the stuff ive done.

Car washs make good money, just expensive to open.

Emissions will always be around, but the money is owning 5-10 stations not 1, so again, cost.

General Maint is where the money is IMO. this is the thing i dont really want to get into, but ive kinda wanted some kind of shop for awhile now.

I want to get into Day Trading.

I want to get into a bigger importing role

Well since the economy took a shit a lot of insurance agents have been closing. We are scooping them up like theirs no tomorrow. We Had 2 agencies before the economy took a crap we now have 8. We are in the middle of buying a few more, gotta spend money too make money.

My mom was the one that 1st opened the agency back in 1999, she did so good that she no longer works here, I pay her a salary and run the business. Hopefully within the next couple of years I will be able to kick back and enjoy it like she is now.

well its like this: I close on my house jan16 so with my mortgage being roughly 950 a month. after apply for that tax credit get that lowererd and have my 3 roomates pay for the mortgage and bills (we're all payin 400 a month).
Im working at my job and they havent really been hit too hard thanks to this mess thankfully. Its stable its in the medical supply field witha lot of diffrent units to switch to. So im goin to transfer to a better shift (Pharma would pay me a dollar more upon transfering), make more money with more hours and get home earlier and use the extra capital to pay off the principle on top of payin my mortgage payment to speed shit up til they all move. I figure that would put me vastly ahead in a few years time. That with my raises being a dollar a year roughly i'll be better off.

I can afford that house without them now but it'll be better on my part to make more. After that I'd use my second job (which is kinda like event planning but you get paid 160 a day plus 55 per meal to travel) and throw that into savings, the market, and into the house. That job takes care of me wanting to travel the world because you get to pick and choose which event you want to do. Like for example my mom does it and went to thialand last year and just got back from down under in April. its not very long trips, like maybe a week sometimes two but its worth it. I would take a week out of my vacation at my primary job to go ( I get 18days PTO a year). The only downside is I gotta do a 10-99 but hey its not like an every other month thing and some i dont need to take time off for since it's local.

Think about it if I get to the point where that house is paid off there is a major bill I never have to pay again and I can really stack money. im 22 almost 23 i got plenty of time. im also looking into govt jobs while im at it like the FAA. They make bank! And with the guys payin the mortgage off as rent I have the time to do the 5wks of training to add another 15k to what i make now.

In time even if I stay with my company i wouldnt be doing bad at all. Im still reading up on everything though but so far its a solid plan.

How do I plan on getting rich?!?

I plan on getting as educated as possible. Right now I have a BS in Mathematics, and in December I'll have my second one in Mechanical Engineering (I'm in a dual degree program). Next weekend I'm taking the FE exam so I can start the process of becoming a professional engineer. After school hopefully I can get employed by a company that's willing to invest into my education, so I can go back to school and get my MBA. In addition, I'm getting married this summer to a very smart and career orientated female who's working toward her phD. So while she work toward her phD, I plan on taking care of the household, work on my MBA, and save as much money as possible. Once she is done and get into a career, I plan on quitting my job, living on her salary, and starting my business. If that doesn't working out, I'll go back to engineering and still have good life.

I already own a business. What I do is assist other people in developing a business of their own. A business mentor if you will. I also plan on diversifying into other avenues eventually. A friend of mine and I would like to open a car shop to do performance upgrades and general maintenance. Then eventually buying some of the property and buildings in downtown Macon and devolving those into buildings that would be great places to open traditional businesses in. If you have ever been to Macon, downtown area could us a little work.

being rich would be rad but i dont think im gonna strive to become a millionaire just yet. my main focus is on setting my retirement up so even if im not rich i will be very very comfortable when i retire (hopefully early so i dont have to work all my life). i will be 26 in november and ive got a good start. i already own a house and i have great credit....now if the stock market would turn around so i can make money instead of lose it i would be set!

I see some of you are talking about going to school, becoming this and that, bla bla. What are you gonna do once your job makes you believe you're secure and you start using that plastic? Thinking that you're gonna pay it all of because of your job? Then other bills come. Then your boss lets you know they're downsizing. You gotta always have a back up plan, no matter what. That's why, when you guys downsize, I make more money at the stocks :) I plan on getting where I want by working hard while I'm still a teen. Im 19 right now, BTW. So, I got a couple of stocks right now and I'm loving it because everything is cheap and the price will eventually go up. My other jobs, Im taking about $50 from every paycheck and throwing it in the savings account. By about 30, I'll have a nice chunk that will just earn money from interest on top of interest. Retirement will be great though.

Right now I am focused on education and my industry. My job is paying for my MBA. The industry that my company is in will ALWAYS be around. We have swallowed many of our competitors, and my job function is the one that saves us dollars.

I am 25 and preparing to buy a home. I didn't do it 2 years ago, because I knew I would be changing jobs until I landed the one I want. Now that I have it, I plan on staying here for a LONG time. For now I will continue working on my portfolio and brainstorming my clothing line ideas until I feel I am ready to start a business.

Rich will come one day for me, but I am in no rush!

I'm more concerned with my career now than wealth. I tried 2 different businesses, one in real estate and the other in e-commerce and I don't know if I have that "it" factor that is required of entrepreneurs.

I've decided to pursue something that was more of a childhood dream for me, a Pilot position in the Air Force (I need not hear how slim my chances are, I am well aware) or Navigator. Theres tons of reasons why the military appeals to me, the honor, structure, heritage, my family.. but wealth isn't one of them obviously. I think it would be much more rewarding to say I am a part of the organization that defends this country then waking up with a couple of exotics in the driveway.

With that I am still heavily invested (relative) in the stock market. I'm going to love the military but I still want to live comfortably financially. (Maybe have the exotics AND the dream job? Who knows) Honestly I just want a good story to tell my grandchildren.

9-5 is where it's at. The employees aren't yours, the bills aren't yours, the customers aren't yours...all you have to do is your job. I find that pretty simple to do. Way more simple than balancing the employees, bills and customers.

Oh and being rich shouldn't be all about money. I know some people who have money coming out of their ears and they are miserable and so are their immediate family members. I think I am rich already. I have a great man, a decent home, a decent car, 2 cats, 2 gerbils, 2 chinchillas, a dog, I eat well and sometimes I get to go shopping for clothes. That's about all I need (kids one day). I wouldn't say we have a lot of money, but we have a nice life...so to me that makes me rich :)

Julio

Hopefully stay healthy.... if my health is good.. Im rich.

No, but seriously, I hope to leave the U.S.A in 15 more years.. Ill be 45. retired.

I "may" buy a home next year or in 2010.. and no more new cars .. I think we may try to Sell IA.com in the next 2 years ( unless someone offers good money NOW).. and hopefully retire out of the online thing and concentrate on other things, But once IA vanishes, I will dissapear out of the car world in Atlanta... I already purchased a Home/Vacation spot in D.R...

I plan to live there the rest of my life after 45... come to the states only to Visit...

Im ambitious, ruthless and driven. I want to retire by 40.

Im moving into other stuff besides cars, i want to diversify into other stuff.

I have family, i have health for the most part. I just want to be successfull, and to me thats a million dollars. I wont be satisfied until im a millionaire.

I plan to expand my business next year, buying a home in FEB or MARCH, and never looking back

I have several quotes that I live by.

The key to getting rich is using other peoples money. (Your credit is the key to your success)

and there are 2 people in this world. People that pay interest and people who collect interest. ONLY YOU can decide which you are and which you want to be in the future.

I've always been inspired by this...

http://www.homearcades.com/images/JUSTIFICATION.jpg

The way its looking right now, I'm planning on graduating next summer. Then hopefully I'll transition from my internship to a fulltime job at the corporation I'm at right now, and see how that goes. In the mean time, I'll be learning all I can in order to eventually start my own business a couple years down the road. Same with going really indepth in the stock/commodities/futures markets, and hopefully I can quit the corporate job and trade for a living while I work on the business.

I'm going to print that picture.

My plan as of right now is to finish what I need to hear at Gordon. I was always told that having an education makes "Success" by any definition easier to obtain. I didn't believe it and slacked off in high school. Now I realize that it's true and I am going to finish doing my time here at Gordon and hopefully *cross fingers* transfer to Georgia Tech and get my bachelors in either electrical engineering or Business. Work for IBM for a year or two consulting security stuff and then work for my Dad and when he retires hopefully I'll be ready to take over. I had health I made the mistake of becoming a habitual smoker but I dropped the habbit almost 6 months ago and sometime soon(I keep telling myself this anyways)I'll start running again. I've been with the same girl for 2 1/2 years next month and if she gives me 2 more years without driving me batty I'll probably put a ring on her finger and take Kanye's advice and slap her with a huge prenup like a :ninja: .LULZ kidding. I personally think 401k is a waste of money. You can spend that money on other things and grow your money much faster. I bought two houses off powers ferry next door to eachother. I bought them 50 cents on a dollar, and have both of htem rented out 150$ more than the mortgage... if i had that money in a 401k it would have LOST money instead of making me 300$ a month PLUS equity in the houses

Jot this down:

"People who have to brag about how much money they have or are making must have a small penis"
~Tracy Shayhorn

Notice you NEVER hear Dan brag about all of the money he is making ;) He leaves all of that up for speculation. Not to mention, your customers don't want to hear that shit :)

Maybe you do make a ton of money and yes it CAN add to happiness, but it's NOT happiness. Money magnifies whatever situation you are in. If you are happy despite your money, money will magnify that. If you are a miserable person, money doesn't make it any better.

Vteckidd
10-23-2008, 03:17 PM
its not bragging if its true. Bragging about how much someone doesn't brag is bragging too FYI.

The wind in my face as im drivimg my drop top lambo will dry my tears. Wanting money doesn't make you a bad person. I just equate success with being happy and being able to accomplish the goals I have for myself.

For the first time in my life I'm financially stable. I wrk my own hours call the shots etc. Great feeling. I'm going to sundance film festival in jan, Tokyo in may, etc. Never could do that before.

But economy is scary you beter be smart enough to keep ahead. Shit could crumble tomorrow.

If you got money and you know it take it put yo pocket and throw it

The thing that i find funny, is that people that don’t have money that act like they do, but happy with what you got. Their is no reason to act like you are successful to impress anyone. Actions are louder then words!

So Mr Baller how much did you loose in the stock market?
zilch. I wasnt invested in the stock market. I havent had 401k since 2002.

If i were to get into the market id have to have $25000-$50,000 to play with. Cant do much with $5000 or even $10,000.

I did by 50 shares of VISA when it droped below $50 2 weeks ago. My money is invested in "other" things right now, so i can only do so much.

not to sound arrogant but ive been right about most of the stuff ive done.

The other stuff can make money, but car washes, especially right NOW, suck, all of them. Unless you are doing high end details and stuff, I still get customers for that, but like a $5 style car wash, any basic kind of wash, it's expensive to run and hard to get customers.

LOL I don't sponsor ht so i make shit up of why I'm selling stuff did you believe the one Boute buying a lambo?
Nope didnt belive it, i have a better chance of getting one before you do!!!:tongue1:

I think you are in the wrong field right now, no one is spending money on car stuff. Everyone is waiting until the economy turns around, cars are toys. You need to focus on stuff that people have to have, Insurance, Food, Gas, etc etc.....

I consider my self rich already, something that most people don’t know, about 3 years ago i inherited about 3 million dollars worth of properties , the properties are in Tijuana and all are currently leased out. Bad thing is i cant sell them since their are other family members than own them also. So all i see is a monthly check which kind of suxs.I rather get it all in one big lump sum. I have tried to sell out, but none have the cash to buy me out... Oh well at least I can depend on my monthly check, and don’t have to pay taxes on none of that money , gotta love having a Mexican checking account, with a debit card that works here!!

Well to be honest the market that im in, the cost is so little, the profit is so big, that i dont think im in danger of losing sales, etc. IMO people are going to continue to spend money even if the economy is bad. Unless they get fired or laid off, people will get the same paycheck, the same money, have the same job, etc. I dont see their spending habits changing.

My demographic is obvioulsy males 18-35. They will always mod their cars, they arent affected by the 401Ks tanking etc.

My sales havent dropped, YET, i realize it could happen, but i dont see it in the near future.

But again, like i said, im only doing the car thing right now to make money. Next year ill be branching into other stuff thats not car related.

Invest in a gas station that gives away free gas. The catch? Have each pump, pump REAL slow. Then as someone tries to pump, have paintball guns shoot paintballs at them. Who's shooting the paintballs? Us. People will see the action live and pay for the shots via the internet!

Who's down to INVEST?

Oh and being rich shouldn't be all about money. I know some people who have money coming out of their ears and they are miserable and so are their immediate family members. I think I am rich already. I have a great man, a decent home, a decent car, 2 cats, 2 gerbils, 2 chinchillas, a dog, I eat well and sometimes I get to go shopping for clothes. That's about all I need (kids one day). I wouldn't say we have a lot of money, but we have a nice life...so to me that makes me rich :)
