How to polish wheels?

ive got a set of fat fives that are painted gunmetal... really wanting somthing different and id really like to polish them. can anyone steer me in the right direction please? ive never done it but i have plenty of time to put into it.

i think everybody has fat fives ... i got a set 2 jus chillin and have been chillin in the garage for some time .... i can give some advice but not much ... your gonna need like 4-6 diff grit sandpaper and gradually work your way up to the finer grit = larger number until u hit like i think 2000 grit or maybe even 4000 then finish off with some mothers polish for wheels .i suggest aircraft stripper to remove old paint then sandblast then start with your hand sanding ./

(May want to start at 220 grit depending on how bad your rim/scuffs/paint/curbage is) 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit sand paper are what i used. Don't skip in grits. Also I wet sanded when i got to 1500-2000 grit (Not sure if you need to, but I did). Took me about 2 hours per rim/wheel, and that's not including polishing/buffing them.

the best way to polish a wheel in my own opinion and by personal experience is by machine sanding with 220 grit until all scratches, curbing, and paint have been thouroughly removed. then hand sand from 400-600-800-1000-1500-2000 making sure that after each grit that its completely even... meaning if you sand with 1500 and its slightly dull, be sure that every nook and cranny is slightly dull otherwise the lower grits will show through and youll be upset. after 2000 grit you can go higher... but imo 2000 is a good height already, anyways its best to machine buff ( rotary or orbital, doesnt matter ) with mothers METAL polish not mag polish or some other polish. wipe away excess and be happy.

Polish isn't different. What color is your car? You can either get them chrome, or go crazy get them Neon orange, or bright green.

We commonly do it to our cars ( Starions/Conquests )

Parts needed:
Aircraft stripper
400-600-800-1000-1500-2000 grit sandpaper
Mothers/Meguiars Aluminum wheel polish with a buffer/orbital

Lay your rim(s) out, spray the aircraft stripper on them and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Rinse off with water. Work your way up with the sandpaper from the coarse to finest grit to get as much imperfections eliminated as possible. Then polish the wheels. It take's a good bit of elbow grease, but well worth it.

My car is a 93 Hatch, green...sorry i dont know the exact color name but pretty common on the 92-95 civics :( . Anyone know a close estimate on how much the materials cost?

I'd say screw it and rock them how they are and find somebody to trade their polished one's for yours...<----- You would be suprised how many of those kinds of deals I've ran into. Or you could just save up alittle money and then try to sell them, then go buy some ultra JDM rims.......lololol
