I think this game is going to determine both teams seasons. Its going to be an amazing game with all the New changes made the the Utah State team. If they can hold Jeremiah Johnson to under 40-50 yrds rushing and pull off the text book offensive plays they made this past weekend, i think its going to be very close. I'm going to go for the underdog here and go for Utah state. It will also only help ASU move up in the pac10 :D

UGA fan? What about your last couple of seasons when you were supposed to win National Titles? What happened there?
Sure am. We've never in the history of our program been ranked #1 before the season started, until now of course. We werent picked to win a national title the last 2 years either????? Maybe by heavily bias UGA fans lol. not quite sure what you mean. we lost 2 games last year, unfortunately one was against tennessee. As chance had it, they recieved the SEC title bid, even with the weaker record. Had we the chance, we MIGHT have had better odds. This is neither here, nor there though. The past is exactly that, the past. This season we are 100% improved. We have a stable QB, double the talent playing wideout, 2 incredible backs, and still just as potent as we were in the past with our defense. If we had any specific year for a NC game, this is it. Oddly enough, it will also be our toughest season

I went back and forth on this one. I think the WVU offense will be too much though. VT is known for a good defense and average offense while ECU has a very good offense but average defense. WVU is more like ECU so I think the talent advantage goes to WVU and WVU outscores them. I dont think WVU covers the spread though.

NEW YORK -- Southern California has jumped two spots to No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 college football poll, rewarded by voters for opening the season with a dominant performance on the road against a BCS conference opponent.
Georgia and Ohio State, the preseason Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, started their seasons with glorified scrimmages at home against FCS (formerly I-AA) teams.
USC's 52-7 victory Saturday at Virginia helped the Trojans vault past the Bulldogs and Buckeyes from No. 3 in the preseason. Georgia fell to No. 2 and Ohio State to No. 3.
The voting was close. USC received 21 first-place votes and 1,539 points from the 65-member media panel. Georgia had 20 first-place votes and 1,506 points. Ohio State got 15 first-place votes and 1,497 points.

SC is flying under the radar because no one cares that they are there. SC will be lucky to win a bowl again this year. I think they get past Vandy, but lose to TN, UGA, FL, LSU and Clemson. Maybe one more that they shouldnt lose but manage to do just that.

09-02-2008, 06:31 PM
Damn you have SC losing that many games?
Ok... according to what i saw Tennessee do last night, letting a third string QB with 4 pics in the first half take control of the game, and Clemson's horrible showing against a middle of the SEC team Alabama i wouldn't be so sure about that.
Plus SC plays UGA, LSU, and Tenn at home... and the South Carolina vs. Florida game is usually a pretty damn good game, excluding last year because of the horrible SC defense.
BanginJimmy
09-02-2008, 07:41 PM
Damn you have SC losing that many games?
TN has a strong defense and actually played pretty damn well. In the second half I think Craft was just that good. SC's offense is unimpressive. Yes they scored quite a few points on NC St. but it is still NC St.
FL will outscore SC. SC just doesnt have the guns to run with them.
UGA is a very good, and complete team. If they stay healthy I think they goto the NC game.
LSU is like UGA, just better in every aspect. If they play next week I think the game is close and with the help of a mistake or great play it could go either way. Hatch will have the time to get comfortable though by the time LSU comes around.
I think Clemson spent too much time watching the newpapers and not enough time preparing for Bama. Would they have beten them? I dont know, but SC wont sneek up on them and Clemson is pretty well known for dropping a game early in the season.
americanctm
09-02-2008, 08:26 PM
I was unimpressed with the SC offense as well... but its an opening game. Auburn's offense looked dismal against Louisiana Monroe, and had four key players get hurt, one for the rest of the season. They are still a candidate to win the West though... And NC State and Louisiana Monroe are pretty different talent levels.
On paper SC has a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball, and the guy that led them to 3 scores in the fourth quarter, Chris Smelley, is starting against Vandy. I just think they can give a lot of those schools a good run for their money. They beat Georgia last year, and kept it close with LSU with a less talented and less experienced team. Some of those games could go either way.
BanginJimmy
09-02-2008, 08:55 PM
Last year LSU had alot of trouble putting away lesser teams. I put SC in that catagory too.
Auburn will be fine, they are just getting the rust off, they started slow last year also and continued to improve.
americanctm
09-02-2008, 09:16 PM
Well Auburn has another two games until LSU, so they do have time to get the rust off. I also heard they will be using both of their QBs in a two-QB system for the next two games, should be interesting. I want to see the Auburn - West Virginia game, that should be a good one too.
South Carolina does have a chance to make some noise in the SEC this year though, and what is great about college football is that anything can happen. Should be an interesting couple of weeks. Hopefully SC will put on a good show against Vandy this Thursday and shake some of their rust off.

USC played terrible. The offense was shaky all game, McKinley got hurt (hopefully won't miss anymore game time) and the defense went down hill in the second half giving up some huge plays. The O-line could not get any push whatsoever to get the running game started. Bad performance all around for SC.
However, since being embarrassed they are going to be extra motivated to play well in front of a home crowd against UGA next week, but it doesn't look good as of now...

Compared to last year were UGA hardly had a grasp on a true offense in the begining of the season.....this year they are ON POINT from the word go! SC will not be able to stop the run or the pass. moreno/king and massaquoi/Green and a QB with the learning curve of a rocket scientist....too much talent for SC to handle. Not to mention having to play UGA coming off an upset. Plus dont you forget, there is alittle revenge to be had from last years mistake :D

No they are playing in Columbia. That is why i said SC should be extra motivated playing in front of a home crowd. They don't want to get embarrassed again. Vandy isn't as big a push over as they used to be. Vandy beat UGA two years ago and should have beat them last year. Nothing is for sure. Plus SC will have McKinley for the entire game this time hopefully.
But it doesn't really matter what kind of season USC or UGA has had over the years or the difference in talent levels, the UGA vs. USC game is always a well-played, hard-fought close game.

USC game is always a well-played, hard-fought close game.
oh i guess i read that wrong....
Yeah i've never doubted vandy, one of my fav teams to watch upset another SEC team :goodjob:
I'll call it now. SC will buckle, UGA will run all over them like Usain Bolt to his next gold medal

lol i'd like a blow out.....save the good games for the teams like FL/LSU/ASU/AUB....its honestly the teams like SC and Tenn that scare me every year......they could suck all year, but still somehow have UGA's number
for one game.
on another note. the FL/Miami game is going to be sick!!! Though i'm going to agree. Tebow and the 0-6 Gaytors should take them this year.....FINALLY!!

I don't know. I'm not too excited about the FL / Miami game. Miami has like 40 freshman on their team, in reality they are no where near the caliber team of the likes of Florida, it should be a blowout, but who knows. This is a weak weekend for college football, no real big games. Can't wait till next week.

Clemson lost to Bama. They are beatable.
Good luck with your whole schedule? 45-21 with GSU and it should have been 41-31. That is why you are not still Number 1. USC destroyed a real opponent in Virginia Week 1. You need to get it together against your early teams, 28-14 right now against CMU?

got the fumble recovery, and then that beautiful throw by the ECU QB for another ECU touchdown, he is 15 of 18 in the first half against the #8 team in the country not to mention playing AT WVA and they played AT VT last week. I think they might be for real...

:lmfao: a GT fan trying to troll......we've had tougher bowel movements :lmao:
GSU may be in another division, but they have 6 national championships....not just a pushover team like kent state. But true our real schedule starts next week

Speaking of National Title's which team, GT or UGA has more recently won a National Title?
GSU has 6 1-AA National Titles man. Are you joking? It is Georgia Southern... Last year they went 7-4. This is not Adrian Peterson Division 1 record breaking running back season, this year or even a couple seasons before that.
Nice, you actually are beating a team like you should. You are number 2 because you didn't DESTROY GSU like you should have. USC tromped Virginia(A 1-A team mind you) and so they took your spot.
Yes your real schedule starts next week. You won't run the table and therefore you won't win. UGA doesn't look THAT good to me. It will be another season of 'almost' for UGA.
Also I am a Florida State Seminole fan first, GT fan second and whoever is playing UGA fan 3rd.
Calling me a troll? It is a college football smack talk/pick-em thread. How am I trolling?

I'd give more credit of that defender being an idiot than Moreno being skilled. Not saying he isn't, he's incredible, but that defender failed pretty hard. Still waiting to watch Miami get cornholed...

who the fvck cares about your NC game 18 yrs ago, last time i checked you weren't a threat since the beginning of the 21st century :lmao:
I'm not joking. they beat Appalachian state last year, who won the championship last year. Sure 7-4 isnt great.....what was the regular season record for tech last year.....oh yeah that's right add 1 more loss :D
Virginia is a horrible team lulz. CMU is the reigning 2006 and 2007 MAC champions. Again, not just another pushover, but nothing close to our level, obviously. Another Hawaii if you will, with a highly over rated QB
Yeah as good as USC (south carolina) looked thursday, im sure we'll go crazy trying to figure out how to score against them :lmao:
I can respect an FSU fan, i just love the tech rivalry...... or lack there of lately lol.
Bro i'm trolling, you're trolling....its all good.m :lmao: At least you know what you're talking about and are keeping entertained. ...this is fun

First time UGA plays an opponent that has a legitimate shot at beating them is Oct. 25

Last time we underestimated both SC and Tenn it turned out not so well in our favor...... any SEC game/team has a legitimate chance to pull an upset

in that case, ANY team in Div 1A has a legitimate shot. Both SC and TN are average on defense and horrible on offense. CMU was far better than either of them as they have an average defnse, but a pretty damn good offense.

Perfect body position definitely doesn't make up for having no reaction time and just standing there while you get jumped over like a douchebag.
Florida's o-line is seriously killing me right now. Jesus.
