ok fellas heres another one.., Ive been in GA for 9 months now and im new with the emission laws and what not but i know that there are ways around it.My exhaust manifold is crack down the middle and now has a leak so instead of buying a new one i just thought of getting headers of someone on IA or somewhere else, now the question is will it pass emission or do i gotta do something to it?:???: any info is helpful

So does the 6 in ej6 mean it is a V6? You have a V6 in that car? Later, QD.

Since your car is an OBD II, it doesnt matter.

If its a CX or DX that has the cat IN THE HEADER itself then yes it matters alot. you cant just swap another header on it like an aftermarket one. The CX and DX and IIRC some of the HXs have the catalytic converter located up top right off the exhaust manifold flange. If you have one of these types of manifolds you have to

1) Find a direct replacement because your O2 sensors and your exhaust manifold is sepcific to the car

2) Change over to an EX style setup which means buy an aftermarket manifold, aftermarket cat, and extend your O2 sensors to the EX locations and have an exhaust shop cut an weld to make everything fit.

If you have an EX your catalytic converter is located downstream and you can replace the header if it is cracked.

not true the cel could be off and still have a code stored in the ecu

Your right. But that doesnt always dictate if it will or will not pass. :D

his question is about replacement of the header and if it will pass emissions . It depends on his car as I stated . And if the exhaust leak is bad enough you can hear it most emmissions stations will fail you regardless of cel or not

they can't fail u unless the light is on not for a leaking exhaust and if they do that's illegal i just fired two people for failing someone because of a leaking exhaust

x2:goodjob: I have had to stick the probe in a rusted out hole, at about mid car before to get a reading. But the car passed. Only thing that can fail before the test is a CEL or NO CAT, now it has been 2 1/2 yrs since I did emissions so it may have changed.
