Hm.
lol.. things that make you hmmmmmmmm
btw, sorry to hear about this situation. its unfortunate when you try out something new only to realize you just shot yourself in the foot. sometimes its best sticking to what you know works. like they have always said... if it aint broke..... don't fix it!
and also, why the hell would you take your cars to a place that looked like that? im all for helping out a friend and throwing some business to help out, but cmon, are you serious? you should have known better! i've seen your posts for quite some time and i know you are smarter than that. this wasn't one of your better decisions, but at least you know not to make the same mistake twice!

Your assumptions are not going very well so far. But your welcome to keep trying.
Then by all means, feel free to correct and surprise me. Who, oh who, would have taken those pictures of the shop? And if you go back and read his post about a certain incident that happened that you, my dad, and Patrick were the only people to see firsthand, well.. I think you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
But anyways. This thread is done and stupid. The only time you will hear me contradict what Patrick has said when it comes to the business is me saying that if you want to bring the red car and blue car back, we will touch up and fix what we can. Since you keep insisting on posting pictures of the bottom of the bumper, we will get it coated for you, and I personally will break out my paint brushes that I use for fine art and touch up the molding where the tape didn't hold 100% on the red car, as well as busting out my personal supply of Back To Black on the window molding that still has dust on it. On the blue car we will fix the runs in the clear coat. That is me saying that we did do some things wrong, and we are willing to fix them (in case you wanted to try and say that I'm not standing up for anything again). I am leaving that up to you. The ball is in your court, and that's where it stays until you decide what you want to do and keep throwing what Patrick said in anger back at me. If you choose to bring them by, call me and we can set up a time to meet you there. If not, then best of luck to you.

i still dont think she gets it. and as bugman said, she probably never will. there probably would have to be an act of God for him to bring any of his cars back to her shop. even then, he still might defy God and say NO! once you've crossed a certain line, there is no going back. all you can do is try to save face. if your efforts to save face fail, well then, i hope you didn't quit your day job.
imo. give him a 100% refund and call it a day. that would show that you sincerely feel bad about this situation and might still be able to save some face.

I've never owned a business per se but if it was me in her position A. his cars wouldn't have left the shop until they were immaculate and common sense and pride would dictate that and B. I would have never allowed this shyt to get online because I wouldn't have given BUGMAN enough time to express his feelings about the situation because I would have made damn sure to do whatever the situation called for. That's where you're wrong. His business reputation and credibility isn't harmed. Yours is. He may have to spend money to have his cars fixed but in the long run, your business is going to suffer. Better believe this isn't going to go away overnight and as many people that have seen this thread, word of mouth will travel quickly. You're a small business to begin with and that in itself is hard enough.

all of that should have been done BEFORE he picked the cars up. they shouldve been 100% before he was even called to come pick them up. your a shop, you should be able to realize quality work and something thats not quality.

See that's just it. Wanna know what time we painted the red mustang? Midnight to 4am. Why? Well for one, we were both awake, and for 2, we wanted as much flourescent light as possible. His cars left the shop because he took them. I didn't say "you must take them NOW" or anything. Patrick got mad and told him to come get the blue car, yes, but I have talked to Patrick about that. When Chris picked up the blue car, I told him to come back when the booth was done and we would work day and night til the paint jobs were flawless. He's the one choosing not to do so.

I just find it funny how she gave me so much crap for recommending a shop to someone that was looking for a $300 paint job. Its what he wanted, I recommended someone that does that and does a damn good job for $300. Yet she bashes me, the shop, and the guy for wanting a $300 job when her "shop" cant even turn out a job worth paying $100 for.

Although at this point I'm sure that it's too late to salvage anything out of the situation, your priority from the get go should have been about staying on him, even if you had to call 20 times a day, to try to fix the existing issues.
Proactive > Reactive.
IMO those of us who aren't making personal attacks on you , are trying to get you to see how you could have handled things differently. It's really up to you how you choose to handle this. Patrick is my painter and partner. On paper everything is me, but shop decisions are made by he and I. I did talk to him.. I asked him what we needed to do to make sure paintjobs would get better. He told me, and as I said before, those things have either been rectified or are in the process of being rectified. I also told Chris that if he wanted to bring the cars back when we had a booth we would repair them. Chris has never gotten back to me on that except saying that he thinks we are done doing business. If that is the case, I am sorry, but there's nothing more I can do. If your steak at a restaurant comes out too rare for you, the manager offers to bring it back and cook it up to the well done that you wanted it, and you say "no I'll just eat it", then that's your decision. But that doesn't put you in a position to write a letter to the newspaper saying the restaurant is horrible and doesn't know how to cook a steak.i'm going to have to object to that...
to keep along with your analogy, a rare steak isn't as subjective as you're putting it. There are criteria for what classifies a steak being rare. If the customer orders a rare steak and gets one that is not to spec, the restaurant is not fulfilling their end of the deal. The patron does not HAVE to accept another steak or a refund or whatever to be satisfied. For some people, the first impression is the last impression, and they have all the right to share their experience.
just my 2 cents
hope you guys resolve the situation, but yeah, for any shop to prosper the customer has to be completely satisfied, in all honesty. I'd take the hit on the paint/costs, because having an unsatisfied customer would be an even bigger hit on revenue(given that this is a serious business) than the paint/materials themselves.

Anyone with any sort of proper education from a business school or background would probably be awestruck right now. Entrepreneurship, business ethics, quality control, public relations, communications, etc... how can you fail in almost every aspect of a business so early into the beginning of the business? If you're insinuating that we would do something malicious to Chris's cars if he brings him back, then you are sorely mistaken.
I am not insinuating anything. I was using your scenario to point out that if someone yells at you for not being satisfied with thier work, then the chances are good that they feel thier work was good enough and the customer is the unreasoable one. Whether or not your shop would do anything to Chris' cars is irrelevant. Your partner/painter let that car leave, which tells me he was satisfied with the work, and then told Bugman that he was done working on his "junk" and that Chris' business is no longer welcome there. If I was treated in this matter there is no way I would come back.

Ha Ha good ol Joe. That was the first time I had ever met him. I forgot all about that. When he got here the car he was trading me wouldn't re-start because of a bad ground but we didn't know that at the time. I still traded because he drove from the Kennesaw area and the car was what I wanted at the time. It wasn't junk by any means just had a starting issue.
But yeah he called me from the side of Hwy 316 about 45 minutes later because he didn't know anyone over in this area. He openly admitted that he jammed the gears hard when it came apart. He never tried to hide anything and that alone told me that he was a great guy. I did have it towed back here by my wrecker company that we use. Met him back here took 1/2 day off work to put one of "my" trannys in the car and had him on his way within a few hours. He did offer to pay me something so I have to give him credit there. He wasn't looking for a freebie by any means but what I did is what I could sleep with.
I asked this question already but no one would answer. Maybe you will. You just got me to thinking about that. Emily, You, Joe, etc.
Do you remember the first time we met?

I asked this question already but no one would answer. Maybe you will. You just got me to thinking about that. Emily, You, Joe, etc.
Do you remember the first time we met?
Chris the first time I met you...Hmm it was in early 2004 I think me and my buddy johnathon came up to your place to pick up a front axle from a chevy 4x4 that you gave us as well as a 2.8 chevy shortblock. Some of the most standup people I've ever met in my life...Have you talked to the egg suckin dogg lately?

Bugman made the right decision on not taking the cars back, even a paint booth will not save you lol.
Tell me emily, how is a paintbooth going to stop overspray on taillights/tires?
Again, how is a paintbooth going to help with parts of the bumper not being painted?
and again, how is a paintbooth going to help you not get runs? RUNS IN THE BASE COAT AT THAT, how the hell do you run base coat, clear coat i can see, but base coat?!?!?! wtf and you say your going to take a brush a touch up a spot that you were suppose to paint?????
The paintbooth as of now is not your main concern (even though you really need one, for environment reasons/trash in paint) But you need a new painter/prep.
OH and some pointers, if you want. Take off parts that you can, like taillights, antannae, bumpers, and side skirts. You will get a much cleaner paint job, and save on tape and paper materials.
for ****s sake someone call OSHA!

I don't know anything about painting a car. So forgive me for asking this. But how do you get paint on a tire, is that just bad aiming? I read the thread, and saw the red truck, and saw that on the front tire, does that happen with bad aim or simply not paying attention?

I hate that it came down to this and wish her the best with anything she ventures into. I don't ever wish bad on anyone and quite ashamed of some of my own post in here. This thread would of been better off never started in the first place but I couldn't not defend myself. Just isn't in my nature.
Do what ya gotta do Sir.
She came in here and hung herself repeatedly and showed exactly what kind of service she is giving along with her guarantee of satisfaction. I don't think it could get any worse than what she said in her own words.
