wet sand them headlights starting off with 800 and go up to 3000 then buff with plastic cleaner and then a plastic polisher. 3m sells those products. make headlights come out brand new.

no need for all that... start with 1500.. then hit it with regular buffing compound and then a polish... all done.. i've done many this way

i wet sand old headlights all the time, they come out crystal clear, after the buff. is it something to do with the long run?

yup yup.... you just need really really good plastic cleaner...if you sand them you put alot of micro scratches in it which makes it look foggy...

sorry to bring this thread back... but you're not entirely right... true if ALL you did was wetsand with 1500 you would get a hazy look... but if you wetsand and then buff it'll come out 100% crystal clear.. i've done it a lot. If you still have a hazy headlight after you buff you're sandpaper is either too rough or you're not buffing it well enough. I've never seen a plastic cleaner turn out a better result than this method if done right
