It will happen eventually, at least in some form. It wont be for quite a while though. GA is in good shape though. There are several state lawmakers that said they will push for the fairtax in GA as soon as it is eacted federally. Personally I think that if it was enacted in GA it would help the push for a federal bill.
For all of the people that are against the FairTax. I urge you to only mention those things that you feel would have a negative impact compared to the current system. Its not perfect in every respect, but it is BETTER in every respect compared to the current system.
For those that dont know much about it. Check out the link in my sig
those that support it, sign the petition in my sig.

done
Even if we all disagree I just have to say I'm pretty impressed with the content and discussions on this site recently.
I like the fair tax in theory, my only issue is it requires the people to remain informed and keep the government accountable... (to keep them from raising the tax rate) and when the people are more concerned with American Idol than the dealings of their government.. I'm a bit skeptical. With that said I'd still vote for the Fair Tax.

A government should be afraid of its people, not the other way around, which is seemingly whats going on in the present day.

Amen. This is the largest problem in America today. Our citizens have forgotten that government is meant to work for us, rather than us being subject to any one person or particular idea.
The FairTax allows us to choose when to pay taxes rather than the IRS stealing income from hard working and successful Americans.

**** everyone hates taxes to begin with and the tax code sure as hell isnt understandable in the least so why not make it simple and like earlier stated in other threads it would make illegals pay taxes at some point because they have to buy something so sure the average person may look at prices of things go up but if you keep more money does it really matter in the end? even big companies cant complain on that one. I just dont see why ppl dont like it in the first place.

The only reasons I have ever heard given that the fairtax isnt an improvement over the current tax code are moronic.

we are not even supposed to be taxed out of our checks at all. a lot of people have quit the irs because they could not find the law. look it up, there are several videos and court cases that bring this up, they just want us to be quite and pay the private bankers(rockafellas) and hope this never becomes popular. so spread the word.

the 16th amendment to the constitution gives the govt power to tax our income and take it directly from our checks. This is why one of the main points in the fairtax is to repeal the 16th amendment.

Imo the fair tax would be the best thing that ever happened to this country. I do have to agree that it will never happen though, b/c it forces everyone to be on the same level. The wealthy will be forced to pay more in taxes for their yachts and private jets, and they won't have any tax shelters to make up for it. We all know that the "top 1%" run this country, and they won't allow a law to pass that might make them an equal in any way with the average person on the street that lives paycheck to paycheck. Call me cynical but I calls'em like I sees'em.

the working rich would actually SAVE money by going to the fairtax.
The ultra rich that make their money from capital gains would probably save money also, but in the end I think they would break about even.
The real benefits would be for those in the lower and middle classes. And they ahve the real power in the country even though they dont have a clue how to use that power.
